    Re: Franchise House Rules Ideas

It probably doesn’t need to be said but with 30 team control I’m not letting any whacky trades happen. I used to play with single-team control but in ‘18 I saw the Yankees trade Aaron Judge to Philly for Nick Williams straight up, I was done with that. Also, too many A prospects get DFA’ed for roster depth. Just kills the immersion for me.

Also, I have a rule for my Yankees. No trading for guys with beards. It helps keep things realistic and also adds a sort of natural obstacle for me. Obviously generic guys can be edited but guys like Bumgarner, Harper, Lindor etc are off limits.

I play an all 30-team control franchise. I play 1 game each day. I close my eyes and hold R2. When I release I play the teams game for that day that it lands on.

During Franchise I try to do something different depending on the day of the week.

Sunday- I play a AAA game.

Monday- Mundane Monday- the game I play I use the most boring uniforms (white vs gray)

Tue- Nothing for Tue. Just straight up.

Wed- Rival Wed- I only look to play a divisional game or a rubber match.

Thursday- Throwback Thursday- the game I play I use only throwback uniforms

Friday- Funky Friday- I close my eyes and scroll through each teams hat, jersey and pant and let the chips fall where they may.

      Saturday- I play AA game.

I love that idea for signing and trading guys to the Yankees. I'm stealing that idea!

I like this idea. I have a slight change on it. You could look as yourself as a network like ESPN, MLB Network, or something like that. You could choose which games you were going to show on your network and on what days. You could follow real life TV contracts like ESPN Sunday night baseball or create your own schedule.

I play the 1st 2 games of every series until I either win the division or I am eliminated. If you play this way through the whole season it ends up being 104 games. I have also done a franchise where I play the series until I either win/lose/split if that makes sense.

I just quick managed through the playoffs, jumping in whenever there was a runner in scoring position for either team. I could jump in for the full game if/when the runs I was behind was equal or more than the innings left(down 1 and play the 9th, down 2 play the 8th, etc.). I think I'm gonna try to get through a full season like this.

                Re: Franchise House Rules Ideas

I’ve added another thing to my franchise “rules”. When I get to the official game mark if I am up by 10 or down by 10 I use the 10-run rule and sum the remainder of the game. I’ve only had to use this twice in 92 games so far. Once I was up and the other I was down. So in reality it doesn’t do anything but speed that one game up since it’s only happening on rare occasions.

All of these Franchise’s have one thing in common. They get stale.

So what house rules do you impose on yourself to keep things fresh, realistic, and fun! Things like salary cap, trade restrictions, limiting free agency. I would love to try some ideas and share some of my own to put together a good list of rules to make things a little more difficult and fun!

I use the Pirates with a low budget and I impose strict trade restrictions.
