Good question, I never really thought about it before.YouTube: MLB The Show 21 Atlanta Braves Franchise -

Most likely the only evidence we could get is an affirmation from the dev team, but man that sounds like it would be an awesome attribute to add.
How would it be coded and what would be the effect?

Well, I guess they could program the batter to look for a certain type of pitch in a certain location for every pitch and the various catchers could have a variable percentage of calling for that exact pitch. That would only be for users that follow the glove on screen, but if you just so happen to throw the wrong pitch in the wrong location then you would get punished for it.YouTube: MLB The Show 21 Atlanta Braves FranchiseComment

Re: Do some catchers actually call a better game?
I have always thought this would be a great/logical addition to the Catchers ratings.
It would put a lot more value on a catcher who can call a good game / maybe better at framing pitches as well.
It seems that certain members of the SP staff prefer a certain catcher. It would be good to be able to build a relationship. For example, a new Catcher / Pitcher relationship would lead to more poor calls from the catcher.
Whereas in the opposite the catcher would call for the best pitch at the right time.Follow my MLB The Show 20 Tampa Bay Rays Franchise here:

RTTS relationships expanded into other season-based m0des would achieve this.

Re: Do some catchers actually call a better game?
I've never seen a difference in how catchers call a game. I also rarely agree with what my catchers call, so I decide what to throw, and where and its their job to catch it and hold onto itOSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Re: Do some catchers actually call a better game?
Over the last couple of years, I have been taking mental notes about this. Unfortunately, I don’t think there is much difference in calling games between good and bad catchers. Even good ones like Salvy and Yadier will occasionally make baffling pitch suggestions. For the most part though, the pitch selections in the game are somewhat defendable.
You guys are right…They could do so much more with this. As well as incorporate pitch framing. Some catchers are fantastic pitch framers, while others struggle. That would be a fun addition if it ever comes to that. We could really see a separation between offensive, defensive, and all-around catchers.MLB The Show '20 ROYALS Franchise: 27-23

I don't think there is any difference between catchers and how they call the game, but I guess Ive never paid that much attention to it either, so I cant say for sure, 1 way or another.
I never remember over the yrs of playing The Show, of them saying anything about a difference in calling games, from 1 catcher to another. It would be a neat feature to add into the game.Everyone who exalts themselves will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted- Luke14-11

Re: Do some catchers actually call a better game?
I doubt there's any difference for pitch selection but I would love to see another attribute added for framing. It's pretty big in MLB. I remember when Russell Martin came to Toronto our pitching staff was instantly better as a result of getting more balls called strikes.Comment

So that would mean anyone without the "Framing" perk will frame the pitches just as bad/good as they do today on default, so. no change there. But anyone with the perk will be able to get more strike calls on borderline pitches.
It would really make certain batteries deadly, whenever you matchup an SP with a high K/9 and a catcher with Framing perk.Comment
