    Beating the shift Question

I've never really paid that much attention to this but I'm sure some here have so I thought I would ask.

So it's incredibly easy to beat the shift in the Show. Playing with the Cardinals, everyone shifts against Dexter and Carp and I can go opposite field and get a double or more probably half the time.

My question is, has anyone ever noticed if after a certain amount of time, teams stop shifting? I almost feel like it's a glitch for how easy it is to beat the shift so if teams don't go back to a normal infield, Carp and Dex are both going to end up hitting .350 plus like they currently are 40 games or so in (Carp is over .400).

    Re: Beating the shift Question

i think each player that has a shift against them is programmed that way. so as long as no runners are on base when they come up to the dish it will be a shift put on them.

i say this because there was 1 particular player(cant remember the name) that they had to have a patch implemented to fix incorrect shift on him in a previous iteration. Unless they have now stream lined it to make it shift based on statistics or whatever.

I want an Opt Out Option on shifts, if only for when I'm using 80's & 90's era classic historical rosters

also, a follow-up question of my own, for anyone in the know. if I make every player a Whole Field/Balanced tendency, will that eliminate shifting, or even at least greatly reduce the amount of shifts?

It should eliminate shifts. Shifts are used on extreme pull hitters normally.

You can turn the auto shift off

That’s true, I guess in 30 team control you could set it off for the CPU profile.. but then they wouldn’t shift ever

                  Re: Beating the shift Question

I actually like playing against the shift (I don't use the shift when playing defense however) as it really is a chess match between me and the CPU. Do I try and go opposite field to beat the shift even though my best player is a pull hitter who I'd be taking the bat out of his hands per say or do I stand Pat and try and go with my normal pull swing. More times than not when I try and beat the shift the other way I end up waiting to long to swing and it completely takes me out of my rhythm.

Do they still over shift the outfield and infield? That’s what made it feel cheap when I did it in the past, dumping a cheap fly ball to LF for an easy double. In real life the OF won’t be as extreme with their positioning.

                      Re: Beating the shift Question

So in my 2014 carry over the players created by the draft in years past are shifted on based on stats, while real life players are shifted on based on if their real life counterparts have a shift played against them.

For the created players, I've actually seen the moments (as they often happen mid-series) when a team decides to start or stop shifting against a player.

I wish they would do this for all players, and I also wish they would use the slight shift.
