To Quick Count or not to Quick Count?

Strictly franchise player here and I go back and forth on this.

On the one hand Quick Counts saves time and also (more importantly) I can draw a realistic amount of walks, it is such a bugaboo to me to have the stats thrown off to such a degree where I have BY FAR the fewest BBs in baseball. Drives me absolutely nuts to the point where I'm chasing walks more than just playing the game.

On the other hand, quick counts does take that little something away from a pitcher batter matchup and general feel/flow of a game, also the luck of the QC draw can really help or hurt you in a big spot, which is kind of annoying in a different way.

People say the OSD stats are thrown off with QC on but I haven't really noticed that.

The only reason I've thought about quick counts is to get accurate pitch counts. I haven't had an issue with my walk numbers while batting, but I almost never walk anyone while pitching because the AI swings at everything early in the count

I play exclusively with quick counts when it was introduced. I love it, keeps me engaged because it's random and gets me in and out of 162 games.

I have never tried it, and doubt that I ever will. It really seems like it cheapens the game when batting, and gives the player a huge handicap when pitching.

Been a long time franchise player and having qc on is the only way I play. Helps me get thru games faster so I can play more. Since the removal of season mode where we could shorten inning length, I just don't have the time for 9 innings without it. Also, I feel that it is more of a challenge on both sides which I like. It feels like added pressure with 2 strikes at the plate or on the mound and you have runners on with 3-1 count and need to make a tuff pitch. I like that added pressure

I play with QC but fear I miss out on presentation because of it.

Play with QC all the time. If I don’t my walks are less than 10 for an entire season and that drives me nuts. Also I can get more games in quicker.

I love the idea of QC’s, but I don’t like the design decision not to show the pitch count.

I’ve played with quick counts for a few years now mainly due to time constraints and have been very happy with the results. This year with a bit more time on my hands I’ve gone back to full counts and it has taken a bit of getting used to but I’m enjoying the change. It’s great to have options of how to play the game.

After using both I say off

I used quick counts for years. Mostly to save time, get more walks and drive pitch counts up. Funny thing was I never seemed to hit all that great and swung at almost any strike as long as it was in the zone... a lot of those are easy outs for the CPU.

Then I changed my approach. I went back to full counts. I usually take the first pitch unless it is exactly what and where I want it. I’m patient until 2 strikes I try not to chase. I never use guess pitch. I never use the power swing. I usually use contact with 2 strikes and protect low or outside depending on the pitchers off speed.

My hitting has got much much better. I think QC doesn’t give you a good enough look at the pitcher in a lot of your ABs and your overall pitch recognition and hitting suffer as a result. Now I get plenty of walks and make him throw plenty of pitches. I just see them better because I’m seeing more pitches and not being pressed into action.

Pitch counts are shown now in “the show” presentation. You still have to press left in d-pad in “mlb network” presentation.

to qc or not to qc, that is the question
both. I have some season files that qc is off limits and others that qc is allowed. I'm glad I dont have to choose just one when I can have the best of both worlds

Qc r great...however, there are next to nothing regarding OSD that they show. Scea needs to fix this. Huge flaw.

Anyone have a slider set tuned to QC they'd like to share? Usually only one or two every year, as there isn't a lot of us.

I began using fast play strictly to get rid of Heidi but I enjoy it since I can get through games a lot faster and the game doesn't drag along. Then I began using quick counts too and I really enjoy it. Also, I play franchise MoM and manage one team in each league so QC is pretty much a necessity. I'm not worried about missing any presentation. My goal is to just get through games and finish the season.
