This is an excellent way to either extend guys who are going into their final few years of team control, OR to know if they aren't going to play ball in negotiations, and you need to trade them away before you lose them. Its a HUGE and wonderful ad to franchise mode, and I'm very grateful for it.

This feature wasn't talked about much before the game's release, as far as I saw, but for me its a huge and important inclusion to the game. Now, we're able to offer contract extensions to just about anyone before we ever even play a Spring Training game, and not only that, can backload or frontload them as we see fit when making the offer.
