I think I have to go this route as well.
Too often when I have a runner on first and I hit it in the gap I hold L1, and I never release the R1 button later then lets say when the batter has passed 1st base only 1 feet, and still more often than not my baserunner just continues running passing 2nd base [emoji2373]

I thought the release point was the halfway point between the bases but it seems like this is isn’t always the case.

The one that is killing me lately is the obvious balls hit to the wall....where the fielder stops and waits for it to bounce back off the wall....and all the runners just sit waiting so they turn every one of them in to singles that score at most one run......

        Re: BASERUNNING!!!

I use AB. If the runner takes too much of a lead, you can manually decrease the lead.

My biggest problem is the AB random canceling is still there. I thought it was gone out of the box, but recent patches seemed to have re-introduced it. It cost me a run yesterday.

AB canceling is when the CPU suddenly switches to manual baserunning even though you have not overridden AB.

My second biggest problem with baserunning is the runner on 1st base getting forced out at 2nd base on a bloop hit to RF. The runner stops about 1/4 way between bases instead of halfway. I think the scaling is still slightly off in RF as the RF ends of way too close to 2nd base to make the easy force.

Since yesterday with the new patch, I'm havin runners just freeze after the ball is hit. By the time I catch it, it's late. It's frustrating to say the least when you think you should get a guy in from 2nd on a hit to the outfield, but hes just froze and dont start the run automatically.

I play cpu vs Cpu ..wondering what would difference be at Auto or Assist..

If I have runners on 1st and 3rd, I can't get the guy on 1st to steal 2nd without sending the runner on 3rd. I press right on the stick + L2 like it says, like I've been doing for years, and it sends the runner on 3rd every time.

                Don't press simultaneously.

Press the L-stick to the right (highlight runner on first) wait about a sec or two, and then press L2.

I do this very often and have no issue with the runner on 3rd advancing as well.

I prefer auto baserunning, but this bug has forced me to use a combination of auto and assist. I just have to remember to keep an eye on the runners and if they're doing something stupid, like not running when they're supposed, then I do it manually.

Extremely frustrating to have a runner forced out at second or third on a base hit to the outfield. And user-controlled runners shouldn't be stealing on their own.

This does nothing as well. Pushing the L stick to the right just moves the PCI to the right.

People always say this, and everytime I try it never never works.

                      Works for me

Not sure why it’s not working for you.

The way countryboy explained it is how I have done it and it works everytime for me, barring times when the pitcher has a fast windup. And yes the PCI also moves right when it works correctly for me.
