MLBTS Needs a Player Position, and Number Hub in Franchise

These are two things franchise mode is missing that would streamline roster player editing, as well as make it possible for the AI to do the same. As for player numbers, there should be a roster management tab called "Player numbers" and "Player positions." Which as the name suggests would allow for you to edit player roster positions, and numbers, without having to individually edit each player, think EA's NHL series, it would look exactly like that.

As for player positions, this is a huge one, because since the AI cannot currently edit players on it's own, having this feature would allow them to do so based on the player position tab, and of course the devs would have to program some logic into it as well. Currently a player could play 85% of his games at SS, but still be listed as a 3B.

I've always disliked the secondary position option. Why can't they just have all positions listed and you can check off the ones you want that player to have.
A menu dedicated to this would make things a lot easier, as you mentioned.

The idea of a player playing one specific position nowadays is just really limited and doesn’t reflect reality, in both baseball and basketball too.

And players having “secondary positions” doesn’t make any sense either. Like, either you can play that position or you cant.

This has always been frustrating. There's no possible way to create a 1B/3B/LF/RF from scratch. The only way to find someone that's editable and "copy" that player for your own.

Agreed. A great example is Charlie Culberson for Atlanta. He played something like 40-50 games in the OF last year and only 10-15 I believe in the infield.

He is listed as a IF in the game and doesn’t have any OF secondary positions.

This is only one example of how much they’ve mismanaged secondary positions.

How bout all those guys who have a secondary position they’ve never played?? Not all second baseman can play short like some devs apparently think.
BFR's future is still TBD, stay tuned for updates

IIRC, MLB 2K used to have fielding ratings for each position. I would really like to see the Show introduce that next year. That way, players could develop new position familiarity (adding a little RPG element to the game) and secondary positions could have ratings correlating to games played at a certain position.

I’m just begging for an individual positional fielding attribute. I hate the fact that a utility man like say Culberson who was a great fielder for ATL last year has to take a attribute penalty to play another position.

Kind of begs the question of why they haven't introduced a UTILITY roster position yet. As for my OP, I was thinking along the lines of having a glut of OF prospects in the system, which the AI would recognize, and moving an infield prospect to the outfield, and streamlining it by having a roster management hub. Doing so would change that players roster position, while keeping his secondary positions in tact. I also like the idea of having a number hub as well similar to NHL. I hate seeing a bunch of players on my team with numbers in the 80's and 70's when I call them up. A number hub would immediately tell me who has what number and let me change it right from there, without having to tediously edit each individual player.

I like both of those ideas as well. At the least you think they would have a Utility quirk for those guys who play everywhere that removes penalties. Then again, we’d still need to add quirks ourself which we can’t do.

I’m just VERY excited for next years release on PC. The only PS game I play now is the show and I’ve done tons of modding on Madden that makes that game so so so much better. I can’t wait to see what the modding community does on PC.

I agree 100% with the player number hub. Last night I re-united Encarnacion with the Jays and spent 10 mins trying to give him his #10 back to him. The EA NHL series NAILS this feature - as small as it is.
