Uniform wishlist thread for The Show 21

New trailer, new unis:

1. Showed a red Phillies jersey but we couldn’t see the back, it could their red alt from a few years ago or it could be BP. Although their BP usually has the “P” logo on it and this jersey had Phillies script making me think it is the alt returning as a throwback. Or making it’s Spring Training. Sorry for wall of text on this one.

2. Brewers 2000-2019 Gray jersey

3. Mariners gray sleeveless joins the white in being added

Instead of adding the 1994-96 or even the 1997-99 Brewers alternate they added the bland 2000-2019 road.


The 1980 Phillies still have no names on the back and they are modern red and not the accurate Maroon.


1998-2011 Mets still have Blue socks when they should be Black.


The Phillies Red alternate didn't have the NIKE swoosh so it may be the 2016-17 Red alternate.


Jackie Robinson is seen in the 1944 Brooklyn Dodgers uniform instead of the proper 1947-56 uniform that he wore.


Fernando Valenzuela is in the trailer wearing an old LA Dodgers uniform but it looks like he's in the 71 set that is matched with the ugly 71 road that has the stripes going down the shoulder.


1998 Mariners road vest is added.

Seattle 1997-2002 Home Vest
Seattle 1998 Road Vest (discontinued after one season)
Philadelphia 2016-17 Red Alternate
Milwaukee bland and boring 2000-2019 Road

If they added back in the Brewers 2000-2019 gray jersey, then the white jersey is definitely in and navy jersey probably is as well.

Slightly off topic; the jarring visuals of the dated uniform template appearing on next gen footage is really a bummer to me.

I can’t get on board with the one piece/button down jerseys for these retro unis that would’ve been pullover jerseys of the 70’s and 80’s. It looks awful!

And a lot of these teams, up until modern times, used to sew the names onto a nameplate and then attach the nameplate to the jersey. When I see retro uniforms without nameplates it’s an eyesore and immersion breaker. Not to mention the belts and lack of elastic waste-bands of yesteryear.

Lastly, seeing some of these real old timers wearing helmets is a bad aesthetic to my eye. Even the no flapped helmets are not close to being appropriate for some of these legends.

This game needs an overhaul in player models and uniform templates like last decade. Please don’t hamper the next gen of consoles because you’re stuck working with dated hardware. I’d rather see a different sku produced than suffer with these legacy issues any longer. Let’s move into the now, please.

Why would they show Prince Fielder in a 1990s jersey?

A lot of uniforms were added last year that weren't in pre-release videos. I'm not saying a lot be added this year, but it's incredibly silly to see the same guy post 24 times telling us what has definitely been added and what has definitely not been added based on about 3.5 minutes of footage, especially when the posts are pretty much "They're not adding any new unis, will have to keep playing 20" then "Well they added one new uni, but no others" then "Well okay they added four new unis but they didn't add others".

Two small things I found odd - when Schmidt throws to first, the first baseman is wearing modern socks with the royal blue liberty bell logo, despite the Phillies wearing 70s throwbacks.

And in prior versions of the game, the Dodgers '71 unis didn't have white buttons/squatchees on the hats (the game had blue buttons instead), and it look like Fernando's hat in the trailer might have a blue button. I've always assumed the Dodgers have always had white buttons in real life, but maybe a few years they switched to blue (??)

I’m guessing the Phillies one is a throwback from a few years ago since it doesn’t have a Nike logo on it. Any current uniforms would have that on it I would think.

Looks good.







Also in the trailer Mookie Boots is wearing a Dodgers home uniform without the NIKE swoosh as is Fernando Valenzuela. Maybe it's a sign they added the 1981 Dodgers Home/Away and got rid of the ugly 1971 road with the pinstripe going down the shoulders.

^ doesn’t look great to me.

No nameplate for the lettering on the back like the M’s had back in the day. Name should be more radially arched, as well.

Then there is the horrendous one piece “jersey and under layer shirt”.

It’s 2021;We need new templates!

Interesting that Mariners vest only lasted 1 season 1998 while the home version lasted until 2002.


Anyway hopefully the next gameplay video will have some "leaks".

I'm hoping this means we get the Angels alt vest jersey thing they had in the mid 2000's. I loved those things.

They do have the 1997 Periwinkle sleeve alternate (minus the Periwinkle billed cap).


Also in the new video premier today they had Ken Griffey JR in the 1998 Mariners road vest.

The show added 41 new uniforms last year. Would be cool if they added a good amount for all systems.

It could be more (I’m not expecting it to be but you never know) since there are no new unis IRL this year, besides the Mets’ black jersey

So far only 4 have I seen in the trailers. It would be cool if they added the same amount as last season (mostly 80's and 90's missing sets).
