Listen, we know why patches happen. The DD tweenies get upset that the game is too hard and complain on the show forum, basically forcing the developers to appease their larger, more lucrative demographic and alter the gameplay in ways that we, the hardcore franchise audience, do not particularly care for. But when those patches break things that worked perfectly before and are released, we are now forced to play with a subpar product. And the worst part is there's very little we can do unless we disconnect our consoles from the internet to prevent those flawed patches from downloading.
Take the following example, which I had never seen before the latest patch.
Case #1: fast forward the below video to the 32 minute mark. You will see the Angels playing the Orioles (my friend is controlling the Halos). The score is 6-2 Halos and the Orioles are batting. Pedro Severino hits a line drive down the right field line. The right fielder runs to the wall to retrieve what should be an easy double. As he gets to the wall, the fielder, clearly in the middle of a seizure, fails to pick up the ball while my friend is literally standing on top of the ball. He literally runs back to the ball after failing to pick it up the first time and tries again but again, the fielder is caught in some type of self-pleasuring activity and cannot pick up the ball. By the time the fielder finally picks up the ball, Severino has run around the bases for an absolutely ridiculous inside the park home run. Joy.
Case #2: same video, fast forward to the 1 hour and 3 minute mark if you will. We are now in the top of the 11th inning of a tie ballgame. Justin Anderson is pitching to Austin Hayes. Hayes strikes out on 3 pitches, but the ball bounces in the dirt. The catcher retrieves the ball to throw to first to get the runner out. Seems like a harmless play. BUT WAIT! This is no ordinary play. As the catcher picks up the ball, he calmly, in no apparent rush at all, decides to wheel around, call his mom, take a shower, plan a trip and eat dinner before finally getting around to throwing the ball, allowing the runner to reach first safely on yet another absolutely bone-headed flaw.
After so many iterations of this game, it is completely unacceptable to allow flaws like this to occur without placing full blame on the developers for shoddy work. Yes, I understand the current situation of the world. I understand working conditions are not ideal. So if you don't have sufficient time to test your patches before releasing, by all means, use your better judgment and don't release them! Issues like this did not happen before the patch (at least not to me) and the fact that they are happening now is completely ludicrous.
