For some reason today it just clicked in my head. I am seeing almost zero foul tips to the back stop this year. Way less than years past or the amount you see in baseball in real life. Even when I am super late on pitches my foul balls tend to go past first or third base. In fact, the ball rarely ever travels backward after contact. I have seen pop ups to the catcher, but none where he really has to go and get it. I don’t know why this clicked in my head this late after release, but it actually feels pretty glaring now that I am thinking about it. Interested to know if anyone else has noticed this?

I've definately noticed the same thing. This year, when I foul a ball off, its often either a line drive or bashed into the dirt. Far fewer get popped up either behind the plate, or near first or third base. And almost none of them are ever high slow pop ups that end up in the stands.
My guess is that this is an intentional thing by the developers to offset the fact that the CPU pitchers are throwing a lot more balls this year, and walking your batters a TON more often. Cutting out those foul balls helps keep their pitch count from escalating.Anyone who claims to be a fan of two teams in the same pro sport is actually a fan of none. -

Foul tips by definition are caught by the catcher. You are looking for foul balls to the backstop.Comment

That is so strange....I am getting a lot of them on on good timed swings. More than I have ever seen. I do not seem to get any on bad timed swings.....Comment
