Re: Reason Fielders Dont Back Up Plays?

Since this post I have watched more closely, and I just popped one up to the CF, and noticed that the RF was jogging near the CF until the catch was made.

I also had a pop up in foul territory that both the RF and the 1B were running towards and the RF stopped when there was no chance of getting there.

Also hit a gap shot between CF and RF, both players running towards it, the RF eventually gave way to the CF because he had a much better angle as it went past him to the fence.

Also had a shot off the fence in LF, the LF went for the jumping catch and missed it, the CF was nearby and grabbed the ball and threw it in.

so youre confirming that at no time were any fielders even close to colliding.

you also seem to to be confirming there is an imaginary bubble around each fielder and other fielders wont enter that bubble.

however i hope we are both talking about manual fielding and not auto fielding right? because if not then you have never had the heartbreak of choosing the wrong guy chasing a foul ball and not being able to switch to the guy who coulda caught it but wont because he stopped running.

to anyone else using auto fielding, you probably wont understand what im talking about. it is the specific reason i have switched some of my profiles to auto-fielding. and yea, its not really an issue when auto-fielding

my sole objective huh? i stated my sole objective already, but say something i agree with and lets see if youre right.

i never understood people arguing that someone only wants to argue. as if someone could argue by themselves.

also its whose not who's. lol. im just playin man dont take me so serious. im not a troll or an *******...lol...but this is and has been one of my biggest issues with the game for many years, its not just a rant or a complaint i just now thought up. as someone whose favorite part in baseball games had been fielding going back to bases loaded II on NES i hate it that ive had to resort to auto fielding now.

but imagine if u expressed a years old ongoing gripe u had with the game and someone just brushed u off as if you were wrong and didnt have a valid argument...you would probably defend your thread/post/take right?

This discounts #2. Perhaps if they are too close it would interfere with the ability to select a given fielder.
thank you for this reasonable feedback. yea i definitely think its #1 but that just seems crazy to me that would still be an issue with how advanced games have become

I had a blown save because of this last night. Ball hit to shallow rf and my right fielder dives for a ball he had no chance of catching. It rolls to the fence and the centerfielder is nowhere to be found so the right fielder has to chase after it. Fortunately the guy that hit it had 41 speed so it was only a triple but the next batter knocked him in

The one thing I don't like playing RTTS, playing as a CF for example - flyball the SS runs after it and then just stops even know they're closed than I am, much closer. Or the foulballs that drop between 3B and the dugout and the 3B does nothing. Not even an attempt.

Yeah, first I don't understand why they dive, proceeding to miss by 12 feet. Lol.

Exactly, I wish there was a mode in between auto and manual fielding where the computer does the fielding but you can take control mid play, I was screaming DONT DIVE DONT DIVE as I saw my rf getting close to the ball. Maybe I need to give manual fielding a shot

                    1. player collision/engine problems
                    2. laziness/unwillingness to properly make all 9 players do what they are supposed to do
                    3. developers are clueless and dont really know how players ALWAYS back each other up.
                    4. some sort of punishment system so that if you miss a flyball no one is there to prevent extra bases.

i really want to know the answer to this
The fact you included "laziness" as a reason immediately discounts any other thing you said.

Go be a game dev for awhile. Maybe then you'll realize just because something isn't exactly as you believe it should be it in a game, it isn't because of "laziness".

Also, the rampant dev insulting around this site, on every message board (which is all this post is), is exactly why they stopped coming around here. Should be a bannable offense at this point, to be quite honest.
