Not sure gaming at a certain age is a big deal anymore. It was once taboo to say you played videogames once you reached a certain age, not so much anymore.

Back on topic: I'm not seeing much of any improvement/decline when fielding. Unfortunately, I don't think it's something that can easily be fixed... I'm sure they will improve it but issues will likely still prop-up every now and then. Having said that, I would hate to be the guy/s responsible for the fielding engine this year since it fell well short of expectations. Fixing it seem to be a tall task w/ the pressure of a huge spotlight due to the MLB Tournament stream.

BTW - I've been having a solid good time with auto-fielding w/ manual throwing. I was really hesitant to change from manual to auto for fear of losing part of the experience but I'm past that now.

I'll be 44 in October, I thought I was one of the old guys, too.

It is AWESOME to see so many older players playing video games. I think all of us are young at heart. And, obviously our love for Baseball hasn't wavered.

Really great to see.

Here's how quickly the years pile up:

I was about 15 when games like Frogger, Asteroids, Pole Position etc were introduced at the mall arcades.

I turned 56 last month.

At least I don't have to spend endless baggies of quarters anymore.

Also wanted to chime in ...

I'll be 44 next month and while my eyes and stick skills aren't as strong as they used to be, I'm still pushing forward. I try to get in at least one Show franchise game every day and the wife doesn't mind because she's busy binging on Netflix or Hulu.

My wife walked in the room when I saw this post and asked why I was smiling, so I showed her. She spent a few minutes picking out a Blu-ray to watch and said “is that smile frozen on your face?” I said “No this is a different smile imagining what my life could have been had I known the future of sports gaming.” She said “Different?, you play the games now“. At that moment my soon to be 18 year old said “ Ma, he said he’d have never married, had more money, less bills, more food and less aggravation. Oh and he’d use the extra money to rent female companionship as needed.” Now I have more aggravation, no companionship, no dinner and a PS4 controller stuck up my ***! On the bright side in a few months unknowingly to Big Mouth, Ill have my man cave! 😜

I just played my first game (franchise) since the patch and had two similarly-boneheaded auto baserunning decisions made. My two slowest players, Grandal and Abreu, made breaks for second base on over-throws to 1B when there was never going to be a chance for them to be safe. Not sure if this is patch-related, or just a RNG quirk in auto baserunning, but wanted to post in case others have similar issues.

52 years old this year. Been playing games since all we had was Pinball and Baseball was played with Dice and Cards.

I don't feel so old being 45 now! But I like my age, I was in early grade school in 1981, meaning I was a kid during the golden age of arcades. Also been playing annual MLB titles since the All-Star Baseball series for the N64, and updating my homemade Giants stats on Baseball Simulator 1.000 before that (and similarly maxing out stats on Baseball Stars).

...but I digress. I played one game of franchise and the outfield play feels even better to me, it feels like they're gliding much better into their catch animations. Seemed like the CPU defense got handcuffed on certain plays a little more frequently, but maybe it was just that game. And the '83 Giants home helmets still have orange bills, but that's not a deal breaker for me.
