Hitting the High Inside Stuff Online

I never really played online much until this year. Ran into a guy tonight who just threw fastballs up and in most of the night, and struck me out multiple times.

Most of them were strikes. Some were up and in for balls, but the majority were In strike zone, right in the corner. Not quite sure how he kept pulling it off so much.

I am a directional hitter. I had some success holding the stick up and in towards the high inside Corner, and using a contact swing.

Would love to hear what the counter is to this strategy. It sure made for a boring, pointless game. He won 2 to 1.

If you are going to tell me to switch to zone hitting, don’t bother. It won’t be happening. I have won the majority of my online games, by the way.

I use directional and they can throw non stop balls on the inside part of the zone and I can't hit them 98 percent of the time. Every now and then i crush one....but, I have no idea what was different. I think it is broken.

Kind of like Curveballs in the bottom 3rd....my hitters swing and miss them all most every time even with good timing.

I think directional is broken to some extent.

It's hard to "counter" that sort of thing with directional. With directional, the only thing you really control is Timing. After that it's RNG based on Batter and Pitcher ratings and maybe some environmental factors i.e. weather.

I think you're doing all you can do except maybe consciously trying to cheat by swinging a little bit early. Remember, all you can do is get the timing correct, the rest is math. So, you have to get to the ball early. That's where the good timing window is for pitches inside.

The only other thing I can think of is being early with pull-hitters and late with push-hitters. Maybe with push-hitters you can inside-out the ball between the infield and the outfield or slice it down the line.
