    Do you use the API?

I leave it on default and hit r1 before every pitch and literally allow the catcher to call the game. I seldom call the catcher off.

    What’s your strategy?

I used it in 19 with pretty good success. This year though, I'm getting shelled with it on.

I use it. I like the way the game plays when I let the catcher call the game. I do wish there was a rating for the catcher that impacted the way he called the game. Higher the rating better overall pitch/location selection.

If you use it all the time why don't you just turn it on instead of auto?

I agree with catcher rating. Going to auto is a good point. I think I’ve just got in a habit of hitting it every time, might be weird just to have it pop up lol.

Same strategy as op, normally the only time I call it off is if I select the wrong pitch by accident lol.

          One question tho,

Before some pitches, it does that weird cinematic type view before you select your pitch. Then when you select your pitch it doesn't suggest a location, is there a way to make it so that it does?

          Hopefully that made sense

Absolutely! A rating for catchers for calling a game, plus a rating for pitch framing, and how they handle the pitching staff. Like “confidence” or something by how well they calm/settle a rattled pitcher down.

It's in the presentation settings. Something like dynamic camera. Default is to pitching only. I just turned it off.

Re: Do you use the API?

I spent many years calling exactly what the catcher called, like literally every pitch of every game (always with the location suggestion turned off though). This year I went back to calling my own game. It’s just more intellectually/strategically stimulating and thus more fun. Apart from that I really don’t even notice any differences. Had good results before, have good results now.
                  Just one man’s opinion.
I don’t actually care about any of this.

Re: Do you use the API?

I typically use the api. Every now and then I'll make my own call if the catcher seems to get stuck on a pitch that just isn't locating on that batter.

I play clean screen so I turned off those dynamic cut scenes to high leverage and batting only.

Otherwise you are shooting blind lol

This was kinda my reasoning for posting. I like the idea of catcher helping call games, i do agree with other posters that a catcher rating would be cool.

That said, sometimes i do feel the catcher calls some questionable decisions and isn’t that dynamic.

I might take your suggestion here and see how that works!

What they need is something like 2k baseball had is 3 years of data for inside edge and you could purchase reports in your franchise of teams you were facing or about to face.

The batter color charts for there hitting is so far off and is not dynamic and should be based on your season.

One year I put several teams players all on 0 and the color hitting charts were still the same they did not turn to all cold zones at all.

I do this, too. Using the api makes the game hum along. I'll usually override about 10 pitches a game if I think it's leading me into trouble.
