MLB The Show 19 help (for a beginner).

    Hey guys.

I picked The show 19 for free off PSN a while back and finally installed a few days ago. I’m 99.9% an NBA 2k player but in these times I’m trying some different games.

I’ve never played the show until now. What an amazing game. Very in-depth. It’s a baseball fans dream......

    Anyways.

Simple question (I think ?) hopefully with a simple answer ....lol

What is the “industry standard” for this game ?

What does the majority of the community use for settings ?

When I first started the game up it gave me different options for hitting, pitching, fielding, running.

What is the community standard for hitting (for example), zone hitting ? Analog ? Etc etc....same pitching, running, fielding.

    Thanks.

That is a really tough one. There are so many ways to play this game it really is just impossible to say there is a community standard.

Folks on here play only Franchise, Some only play Online others are RTTS only. Some play everything a bit. There is even a strong Manage Only Mode following. Some play accurate to the smallest detail, some and an increasing number with additions to this years game '20 play fictional franchises etc.

I would say to start a Franchise with whatever team you are interested in. Then set hitting and pitching to Dynamic difficulty. Then just play like 5 to 10 games with each control set to see what works best for you. The biggest take away is to just have fun. A lot of folks on here forget to do that sometimes. Myself included and get to wrapped up in the nuance of what teams or controls or difficulties etc.

Don't let others tell you how you should play or that if you don't play a certain way you are wrong. So just relax enjoy one of the best Baseball games ever made and find your own groove.

      Ok ok.

      I’m coming from a 2k background.

“You have to use the shot stick”
      “You need this HOF badge”
“Superstar is the only way to play”
      “Shot meter off”

Etc etc. I was wondering if this game has similar things....if you get what I’m saying.

It does. There are many different ways to play the game. I don't know about the Badge part. I have not played 2k since '17. If you get into the card collecting an Programs etc. Then yeah I am sure there are those elements.

There are a bunch of tutorials that other OS'ers have come up with. I would search and link them for you but I am at work and on my phone right now and its kind of a pain.

Just for discussion. I play on Dynamic Difficulty All Star + , Zone Hitting, Classic Pitching and Button Fielding. 30 Team control Fictional Franchise with Bacons Rosters.

Like other have said. Play around til you find something to your liking. For reference I play majority franchise and a little bit of rtts. I'm hall of fame fame hitting using zone, All star pitching using classic, buttons for defence. I started off using dynamic difficulty until I found a difficulty that made it fun.

I’ll basically play one off games or online.

I’m scoring almost 10 runs per game and pitching complete game shutouts or max 1-2 runs.

I am on beginner, so I’ll up it one level for both. But what is dynamic ?

Dynamic will change as I play ?

Dynamic will indeed change as you play. The rate of change is a slider. If you find a skill level you really like move the slider all the way left and you will be locked at that level.

So, bump up one level from beginner or set to dynamic ?

                What should I do ?

I would go with dynamic. That way you can adjust the speed of increase/decrease. Also you can control which is increasing or that you want to lock in. Its frustrating I wish they had a slider for both Pitching and Hitting. But for example say you feel really comfortable Pitching at All Star. You can just move the slider to the left or zero it out and Pitching wont change. Then when you are at Bat move it back to the right to keep developing the difficulty.
