I would like to see in franchise the ability to select the number of teams and the organizational structure. I would also like to be able to change team region such as reassign Inc the (New York) Giants and (Brooklyn) Dodgers to the East from the West.

In Edit Player I would like to see the minimum height reduced to 5'4" and the minimum weight to 145 pounds to better accommodate some historical players from the turn of the century.

I checked every single thread on this subject to make sure my suggestions were not duplicates.
The first thing I would like to have changed deals with the different windows (user settings, data utility, roster control, and the likes). Why not use white lettering on a black background instead of vice versa as it is now. It makes it awfully hard to read. Granted my eyesight is not what it used to be, but quite frankly, one has to stand very close to the screen to figure out what's written.
Secondly, I wish they remove 3 scenes concerning the pitchers: a) the constant lifting of the cap. How often do you see that? Very rarely. Maybe on a very hot day, when the pitcher does it to remove the sweat on his forehead. Otherwise, nobody does it; b) the legs stretching when a relief pitcher gets to the mound. You never see that in real life, c) the relief pitcher walking to the mound… and dropping his glove! I have watched thousands and thousands of games in person or on TV and believe me, I have never seen that. This most ridiculous scene was introduced years ago. The first time, I sort of laughed; the second time, I smiled a little. That’s it. Now, when I see it, I literarily curse at the game. Please, SDS, remove that nonsense. It ain’t funny anymore.
Otherwise, this game, despite some flaws is outstanding. It’s the best video sports game, bar none.
Looking forward to The Show 21 !

I've read more than once that the glove dropping thing is sort of an inside joke.SDS leaves it in there just to aggravate people.
It doesn't bother me that much-I have other per peeves.

I usually don't post this here but hopefully some of these things make it:
Legacy Issues:

Players that are on the 40 man roster by Aug 31 should be eligible for the postseason. Currently only players that are on the active roster are eligible for the post season.

Salary demands and contracts were never tuned to scale with the new contracts. An example is a player that makes 15 million has their contract expire they demand 5 million on the open market. This causes a deflation in budgets as the years go on with the budgets decreasing each year.

Players earn less in free agency than arbitration and many times a player will have their salary reduced in arbitration for no other reason than the cpu needs to adjust to the scale. An example is a player like Kris Bryant who routinely has his salary reduced in the final year of arbitration.

The budget doesn’t make sense to a lay person or even a person with a deep understanding of baseball contracts. There is no clear understanding of how much available money is to spend. Contracts are based per year but when negotiating shows per week. Very cumbersome. Budgets are based on starting roster and not market size.

Players with 5 years of major league service time should have options removed because by rule they can no longer be optioned to the minors without approval.

Players should not retire mid contract. It happens very rarely in real baseball. It becomes a way where a bad contract is wiped off the books.

Player progression with starting pitchers has a league full of starting pitchers with 80 plus overall in a few years.

Players signed and traded. Rule in baseball does not allow that

Players traded multiple times in one season



Below are ideas that by adding Slider Options can improve Franchise Drastically

One of the things that MLB the Show did very well early on that others games followed was the customization ability of the game. This is one area where I believe the* franchise can expand and appeal to the many needs/wants of others by opening dev tools to the community through additional sliders similar to NBA2k.

Many times tuning of the different areas of franchise makes it difficult for the devs to appease all the wants of the community. Sliders such as(Can make the game much more enjoyable);

Trade Quality

Progression speed

Regression speed

Draft quality

Salary demands

Prospect value



Additional sliders could be added for managers
Hit and run
Bunt
Hook
Etc..


These sliders would allow the player to adjust the game to fit what they want it to be.*

Managers, coaches and scouts should be editable as well as allowing more options for positions in the player editor. It is impossible to add all of the positions to make a true utility player.* Ability to edit draft classes.

*Teams should be labeled by market size for budget purposes. Currently the budget is based on the starting roster.




Things that would improve franchise mode.

Player awards attached to the player card(Player card reflect all teams a player played on in a year instead of TOT

League(team) Almanac that would document hit streaks, records, awards

Transaction log that is accessible for the entire season. Currently it is cleared every couple months.

Deeper scouting where there are prospects that can make immediate impact

International Free Agents

A Ball with deeper minor leagues even if they are not playable.

Progressive Injuries. Injuries should have an affect. An arm injury should reduce the arm ratings. Leg injuries should reduce speed, power. These injuries can also compile and a leg injury can make another more likely.

Make the trade deadline and winter meetings mean something.

Ability to change the length of the season, innings etc.

Rotating schedules year to year

Ability to see and store minor league stats

Allow automation for signing renewable, arbitration players. New players have difficulty understanding the rules. Toggle option to resign renewable and arbitration players would allow the cpu to take control and make the decisions for the human for those players.*



Presentation ideas for franchise

Cut in during the game from the studio to talk about what's going on around the league. Scores, trades, injuries, standings.

End of season awards show to talk about playoff teams and end of season award winners. Think of the College Hoops game selection show.



Long Range Goals

Dynamic player position switches

Rule changes between seasons. League meetings where rules can change (be approved by human) runner on second, reduced season length, playoff expansion, free agency after 5 years etc...

Realignment

Expansion Mode. Make new teams design uniforms expansion draft etc.

Create a stadium

“Start today” Mode. I would love to be able to pick up a franchise with the real stats, standings and rosters of a team in real MLB. Try to get them to the playoffs or rebuild.

Online Franchise that has fidelity with offline. Should be the same mode that can be moved from offline to online.

Small thing, but one I haven’t seen mentioned..

Would be cool if you could choose the grass mow pattern (or if it was random). Speaking at least for Kauffman Stadium, they have one grid style for most games but will occasionally change it up or even mow a crown or a KC in the outfield on very rare occasions. Would help the stadiums feel a little less stale, over time, if this could be worked into the game on Next Gen.

I’d love an expansion mode within franchise.
I don’t need create a stadium,just give me a couple nice generic stadiums to choose from and let me build a franchise from the ground up.

Not just expansion, but the ability to set the number of teams and the organisational structure. In years past MLB had less than 30 teans.

i personally want to see smoother gameplay,

What i mean is, fielding or base running feels clunky, have you ever had one of those issues where you move your character one way but he moves too much that way then it takes way too long for him to turn towards the ball and completely botching the play? or a blooper is shot out just over the second or shortstops head and you cant seem to have ANY control over that player and he just stands there doing nothing when he could just back up and catch the ball.

Just a couple things I haven't seen yet browsing through this thread:

1) improve AI logic with baserunning:

a) baserunners not taking appropriate number of bases on a hit, the runners will stop mid way between the bases to ensure the ball drops when it's CLEARLY an extra base hit
b) lead runners stopping at second when clearly they should have gone to third bc the ball was in the gap for what should have been a double

2) 3D grass: something like the grass in EA Sports games (Madden, FIFA)

3) Cleveland Municipal Stadium

4) Tiger Stadium

5) I REALLY like the previous posts about era-specific uniforms design templates (baggy early 1900s, collared jerseys, pullover jerseys, real sleeveless jerseys)

6) as always, more brands and models of equipment (big push for Nike catchers equipment)

I don't usually post much but since I do play the game A LOT, I figure I chime in.

1. Better atmosphere/interaction in older ballparks. Feels kind of wooden especially when you have a classic custom roster playing in said ballparks. Compared to the regular roster/stadiums, it's a tad bit lack luster (I'm aware this probably has more to do with the rosters than anything but still). There are times if I'm playing at Shea Stadium with a classic 99 roster and if I hit a HR, it doesn't show the apple, seems generic etc. I love it regardless but it would be nice to see more interaction, if that makes any sense.

2. Customize undershirt colors when selecting uniforms. An example of this is when I want to wear the blue caps with the white 1998 alternate but the preset of the undershirts is black. Mets wore the white alternates with both blue and blue/black hats and undershirts. Would be nice to mix and match to replicate how teams did their unis back in the day and even now to an extent. Another example that comes to mind are the 2003 Reds. Their home red striped vests were worn with both red and black undershirts on occasion.

Just some stuff I thought of, nothing too major. Most of what I had thought of was already mentioned in this thread.
