Btw... It took me until 2019 to get the Tigers a WS championship. I'm now in season 3 with the Padres, and a couple of my prospects are panning out, and the team is looking better (as in .500). But I think they will eventually be good

I should have mentioned.. When I took over the Padres, I dumped a decent amount of high priced decent players for prospects via trades.

I try to strike a balance between a fair real life trade and a trade the game’s engine deems fair. I use the trade value website that is often discussed in the trade discussion thread. There is some de-sync between real life and the game, which makes it more challenging and to me more fun.

After year 1, I’m basically just using the game’s trade engine combined with my own judgment. It’s very easy to take advantage of the CPU trade logic so I try not to abuse it.

So what I’m gather is that, Players who don’t value their prospects in The Show would easily trade their high end prospects for 1 year rentals?

It’s all in how you want to play and what sort of experience you want. I need the realism and immersion so I try to stay as true-to-life as possible.

But yes, if you wanted to, you could make the Orioles a World Series contender year 1 by dumping all your “A” prospects for Trout and Verlander.

Absolutely value them like in real life.

I generally don’t play more than one year because I try to play as much of the schedule as I can. That being said, I still try to value my prospects realistically even though I know I probably won’t see them develop into good players.

I've been playing the same franchise since 2014. If I didn't value prospects my team would be in very poor shape indeed. Most of my current roster are players I once drafted or traded for.

Re: Do you value Prospects in Trades like in real life?

I would never, ever trade a top prospect for a rental. If I'm going to pick up a guy who will be a contributor on my roster, but could leave as a free agent after the season, than I might trade away an older minor leaguer or a guy with a lower ceiling, but never someone who's part of my future.

However, if there's the chance to trade an A level prospect who's ratings are in the 60s for a high quality young major leaguer with many years of team control left, then there's a lot more on the table. I did that in my current franchise to obtain a top outfielder by trading a good not great major leaguer and my top prospect.
Anyone who claims to be a fan of two teams in the same pro sport is actually a fan of none.

that's what I do in my Mariners White Sox and Rockies single season run through but not in my Orioles season file. I could have gotten some great deals for catcher Rutcshman, but unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) he's already their best catcher in the Show and the rest of the Baltimore catchers aren't ready for prime-time
