    CPU pitchers won’t throw balls

For some reason, the CPU will only throw strikes. Every pitch is on the zone. They do not try to fool me by throwing a waste pitch outside of the zone, neither do they have any accuracy issues when trying to paint the corners. Every pitch is in the zone.

I just played a game where the starter threw 98 pitches, and every one of them was in the zone.

It’s really frustrating and I don’t know what to do. I’ve tried adjusting sliders and editing a few pitchers accuracy attributes, but nothing is working.

I had started a thread on this in the Rosters section because I imagined it had some thing to do with using a 1999 roster set I downloaded, but apparently that’s not the case as the problem still exists.

I play offline franchise 95% of the time and I lead the league in walks. Must just be your game.

I lowered the cpu strike frequency a notch or 2.

98/98 strikes is something I’ve never seen or heard so I’ll chalk that up to some sort of random glitch.

But try lowering the CPU strike frequency. Everyone’s game plays and feels different you may need to go even lower than you already are.

      Good luck.

If I may ask, what difficulty are you using? Dynamic, all star, HOF, Legend?

You may and go Tribe. I’m using HOF hitting, Legend pitching.

Ok. That's really weird then. I was thinking if you were using dynamic, it might have something to do with it. I use HOF for both, and I have the opposite effect lol. They try to paint the black so much they throw more balls then strikes. Are you using a slider set, or default, or just some random adjustments? Is this in a franchise?
Thanks. Home town team. Love the tribe for 35+ years

Difficulty level can affect how many in the zone pitches you see as well. I personally prefer dynamic difficulty. and to reiterate what Ace says knock CPU K frequency to zero and for extra effect put CPU Control and Consistency to 10. then work backwards to default 5 on all 3 if zero on frequency and 10 on Control and Consistency provides TOO many walks

Thanks for the input guys, but I know what was causing it.

Somehow, my hitting difficulty was on Beginner. I never switched it over, so I don’t know how that happened. Once I switched it over to Dynamic and then Veteran, the CPU started throwing some outside pitches.

Now I can get back to playing my 1999 season and try to win it all with my Metsies (least amount of errors in a season (33) by an infield in the history of baseball).

I am last and second last in walks with my two teams. I attribute that 100 percent to pack of patience!

full count walks with a couple foul-offs thrown in for good measure can be some good stuff, in a tight game.

and Crash Davis says it's strikeouts that are boring... and fascist besides. throw some groundballs, they're more democratic

What I didn’t say was that I’m also first in strikeouts and last in Avg. first place in the division though because I can pitch. Haha.

You could also just lower strike frequency down to 4.

I use cpu consistency 7 and cpu strike frequency 4. Works well for me.

Just want to chime in on this because it's a problem I see all too often:

Make sure you have the correct profile loaded before you start a game. If you're in Franchise, you'll want to check User Settings and Settings File Associations, then select the profile you intend to use for your played games. Finally, on the controller select screen right before the game starts make sure that the same profile name appears underneath the controller graphic.

If you already have the Settings File Association set on the right profile, I'm guessing maybe an accidental nudge on the right stick on the controller select screen pushed you off of your regular profile, onto one with the Beginner difficulty set.

Anyway, glad you got it sorted!
