Ai Intentionally sending down good players in franchise?

Anyone else noticed this? For some reason, a lot of AI teams in my franchise mode are sending down some of their good players, and then calling up total garbage to replace them. Example, the Rockies are playing Tyler Nevin, a D potential 69 overall, at first base. Meanwhile, Ryan McMahon is in AAA, and has been since the season started. He's not injured either. What the heck is going on?

Pretty sure it has to do with player options. AI teams seem to ALWAYS give roster spots to players who are out of options and send those with options down. Of course this is all fixed with 30 team control...

I've seen it with the Giants. Their bullpen is full of players with overall ratings in the 50's and 60's while much higher rated pitchers are in AAA.

I can't use 30 team control because I can only play at a friend's house while he is working (part time) since I didn't buy the game, so 30 team control is not an option for me but if you have the time that would be a good way to fix that problem.

Sending down during season or after Spring Training?

        What are Nevin's stats?

What are McMahon's stats in Triple-A?

I think McMahon was sent down at the start of the season. We're now at the end of May. Nevin, to his credit, is hitting in the 280s in the majors. Only 4 home runs though. McMahon is hitting 350 with 12 home runs in Triple A.

Any idea how McMahon performed in Spring Training?

Given that Nevin is productive at the MLB level, I don't see that big of a deal of them keeping McMahon in the minors and letting him to continue to develop.

As the season progresses, teams will make roster moves based on performance.

Is McMahon on the 40 man roster? Some of those mid-tier guys don't end up on the 40 man in some of the downloadable rosters, thus leaving them in AAA (Or A, if you're using one of ridin's rosters that includes injuries).

I'm using the default rosters. He was on the 40 man, and he played full time in the majors last year. (I'm in 2021).
