Scoring Question
I had a scenario last night that I thought for sure would result in an unearned run but then when I saw my pitcher’s stat line it was earned so I’m wondering if the game got it wrong or if I’m just misinterpreting things. Bases loaded with two outs, my pitcher gets a strikeout on a pitch in the dirt for the third out, so all the runners advance. I had a total brain fart and could have just had my catcher stand on home plate and tag out the guy coming home for an easy out, but out of habit I threw to first for what should have been an easy out. The throw was a bad throw and took my first baseman off the bag and everyone was safe. Shouldn’t this be an unearned run due to the bad throw, or does the pitcher throwing a ball in the dirt override the throwing error?Tags: None -

The pitcher throwing in the dirt as a wild pitch resulted in the run scoring. So it is an earned run for the pitcher but still an error for the catcher.I had a scenario last night that I thought for sure would result in an unearned run but then when I saw my pitcher’s stat line it was earned so I’m wondering if the game got it wrong or if I’m just misinterpreting things. Here's one:
Runners on second and third, tie game, bottom 9.
I gapped one to walk it off but sent both runners home. The game gave me credit for both runs and I won 4-2. I'm pretty sure if the ball is in play they only count the winning run.Comment

Actually, with the bases loaded, and 2 out, you would only have had to step on home plate before the runner.I had a scenario last night that I thought for sure would result in an unearned run but then when I saw my pitcher’s stat line it was earned so I’m wondering if the game got it wrong or if I’m just misinterpreting things. With 2 outs, a dropped 3rd strike with the bases loaded is a force play at home. No need to tag the runner.Comment
