Cannot reinstall the game. Any ideas?

Hi guys, I'm having trouble and I thought you guys might be able to help. I originally bought this year's version of the game at release (hard copy), installed it and played it for months with no issue. But I put the game down for about a month while I played another title, and then today went to play again for the first time since the last patch.

Everything seemed normal through the menus, but once I was in a game, it wouldn't respond when I tried to swing the bat or pitch, using the X button. I thought that it was a weird error, so I closed the game, then started it again, but I had the same problem.

So, I took the next step, and uninstalled the game from my PS4, which went normally. I took the disc out, and then put it back in, and it started to reinstall the game, while also downloading the updates at the same time. Same as any other PS4 game does these days. But then I hit a problem, after installing about 400kb of data, the progress bar under the game changed to an X, and the download stopped installing. When I click X on my controller, it says "cannot start the application CE-3005-08).

This was of course frustrating, so I uninstalled it again, and tried the same process, but got the exact same result.

So, taking the next step, I went into my PS4's dafe mode, refreshed the database, and tried again, but got the exact same result again. I tried reinstalling a few other games that I had removed from the PS4, and had no problems with any of them. Its just The Show that's being weird. The disc is clean and has no scratches.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

See what happens when you uninstall The Show, never uninstall the show! Never stop playing the show.

Seriously though a quick Google search revealed:

"The PS4 CE-30005-8 error indicates the hardware failures, especially on your PS4 hard disk drive. As you know, it is very likely that your PS4 hard drives are undergoing some serious functionality issues. So, it is highly recommended that you back up the hard drive as soon as possible in case of any data loss"

Hopefully you don't need a new hard drive though. Can you install any other games?

Thank you for that. Yes, I can install other games. Tried two others that weren't currently installed and that went just fine. I also tried three that were already installed, and they all played fine.

That's worrying long term of course. Good thing the PS5 is on its way and can play PS4 games. I've had the PS4 for six years this month, and hadn't had an issues with it until just now. I guess i'll hope that there's actually an issue with the disc, and I just can't see it. Better to lose one game than the whole system.

I could always install 18 and get a similar experience, should it come to that.

This may sound silly, but have you tried installing a different physical copy of the game?

Aside from that, I would contact customer support and see if they can help you figure out why this is happening.

I just had this same issue with Madden 20, which I received from Gamefly today.

Madden would stop after only 212.3 MB of initial install... So I tried GR Breakpoint and its working just fine as I type this.

And I as well have never had any issues with game not installing, until today with Madden.

That's a fine idea, but I don't have access to one. Funny as it may sound, I don't personally know anyone else that even has a PS4 who lives anywhere near me. One of the problems of being a 40-something gamer.

i have this issue too i just throuht my disk was too dirty it really bad on my nba2k games but also the show 18 and all maddens but 25

I'm having the same issue, but with Horizon Zero Dawn. All other games install fine, but this one will not. It gets to 6gb and then stops, then I'll get an error message. I've already played through it once, just had the itch to play it again. I still play The Show everyday!

Update on mine, it was that copy of Madden.

I rented another copy of Madden and it worked just fine.

Unlucky bud, I would definitely try another copy if you can.

Thanks for the suggestion. For the time being, I'm just going to occupy myself with other games. I reinstalled Madden and I have another title I think I'll get back into also.
