Do player face scans automatically update on carryover saves?

An example would be I start a Rays franchise this year with Wander Franco as one of the prospects in the “full minor league rosters”. Then MLB the Show 21 is released with an updated face scan, updated stance and equipment. Will my version of Franco update when I carry it over to The Show 21 or am I stuck with the version when I started my franchise?

IF you started a franchise with a face-scanned player (like Franco), his face scan WILL carryover for as long as he's in the next year's game.

Now, if a guy retires and is not in MLB21 (i.e. SDS no longer has his rights), then that player in your carryover save will have his name/face changed (but not his ratings and so on).

yes, and on the flip side, if you start with a players face that was edited by a creator and not SCEA and in 21 that player has a face it will NOT be updated in your franchise unless you started the franchise with the SCEA version of that player. Ala some of the Japanese players like Akiyama (who isn't in the game yet), Tsutsugo etc. You will have to use the SCEA version because of the assigned player ID.

If the player in question was originally made by SDS (even if they were edited by another party later for their roster) then yes, the face scan will update.

Each player has a dev code associated with them. It is hidden from us, but as long as that player has the dev code associated with them, they will receive any and all visual updates.

The downside? They will also change appearance and name if they leave the MLB as The Show can't pass it off as user generated content and can get sued for using the name and likeness of anybody they don't have the rights to.

Just an FYI for the future, try to keep questions like this to the Q&A thread. There are several forum veterans who keep an eye on it, including myself. If you don't receive an answer there, it's likely because nobody knows the answer.
