    Yes.

They have not been able to solve on going legacy issues just developing for one console. I see many more occurring as they expand to other platforms. We have seen more content taken out than put in for the past several years, I expect this to increase. I think the cash grab micro transaction DD will become completely overblown and even more tied to every single mode.

I do believe this will be a dumpster fire and will be the end of the core game a lot of us offline franchise players have been a fan of.

I am hopeful it can even improve upon things, especially if it ever comes to PC. I'm also hoping to see more MLB games again someday, though. I do feel like that kind of competition will breed some excellence for all games like it used to a couple of generations ago.

A PC version will guarantee improvement based on mods alone.

^^^ mic drop & end thread

A PC release and subsequent modding that will occur could make this the greatest sports game of all-time.

.. a roster editor will be a godsend. We can port the RBU data right into a roster file. Think about that. Instead of taking days or months, we can have the base of a roster done in hours. We can give the 2k Ultimate Base Roster a run for its $$$

The bummer is, this is gonna cost me a lot more than a PS5. I've needed to upgrade my gaming rig for going on 2 years now.

.. has anyone seen a release date? I'd love to see this coincide with PS5 release in Nov/Dec

No, and there won't be one for quite a long time. To be on the safe side, I'm giving you a placeholder date of April 2, 2021.

Re: Are you concerned about the series now that it’s multi platform?

I'm concerned, but I think moving into the next generation there is as much positive as there is negative with going multiplatform.

First of all, let's not forget the potential upside if cross-saves become a thing. Continuing my franchise while on the road with my switch is a dream come true.

Multiplatform has the potential to bring in more revenue, and allow them to cover the labor cost of going multiplatform. On top of that, I believe AI it's going to start having a positive impact on video game development. We've already started to see the really early days of it with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, but I can imagine the potential for AI going well beyond that and easing the workload for video game developers significantly.

I expect a lot of the mundane workloads to eventually be handed off to AI, and I can see in the near future AI being an essential part of video game development, leaving the devs free to pursue more creative efforts.

So to sum up, in the long term I'm not worried, but in the short term yes I can see MLB 21 being severely hampered by having to go multiplatform.

speaking of a PC version of the Show, I think we are as far away from that as we are a return of a NCAA football or basketball series. hope I'm off base though

I disagree. With the ecosystem MS has in place, very little is required for a game to run on PC after it's made for Xbox. It would be very shortsighted for SDS to completely leave out a player base (aka more revenue) when so little effort is required.

I somewhat disagree with this part of your comment. The biggest problem before was architecture. The PS3 went with the PowerPC (hope that guy was fired), whereas the PS4 and beyond will be on the standard x86 architecture. The difference between the consoles as generations move on are becoming very minimal since even the GPU units are from the same company.

I sure hope so. a lot of the little things I've always wanted added to the Show can be done by me if the Show were on PC

A '21 version is not even confirmed for XBOX, Switch, PC, TI-86, or anything else yet. 2021 is just the first year that it's possible on something other than a Sony platform, per the agreement.

And, honestly...the announcement of that agreement was made just before COVID. Even if the architectures are more similar now between the various platforms, there's no way that wasn't a setback to getting the game developed for other platforms.

I have a hard time believing they'd make an announcement like that, especially in a year new consoles are releasing, and not act on it. Why else would the announcement be made?

probably because it was made pre-covid.
