Best way to play Franchise w/o playing all 9/162?

I use to like 17's season mode where i can choose the # of games in a season. We can no longer do that.

What suggestions do you have to play franchise without playing all 9/162?

I was thinking of doing 3 inning games for all 162. Sort of like we do in DD. Only nitpick for me is I love how day becomes night in the show and love night games. i would miss that.

another thought I had is sim up until the 7th inning and play till then. But there you miss using your starters.

I know in other threads people have suggested play 2/3 or 1/3 - 1/4 in a series but i tried that and just doesn't feel right.

Yes I know about MTO but I would really like to play more like season mode if possible

Every 6th game so you work through the rotation.

      I would activate “Critical Situations”

play 1, sim 2. 99% of teams are going to win at least a third of their games and lose a third of their games. it's what you do with those other 54 that matter most. you can go anywhere from 54-108 to 108-54 to 81-81. depending on how often you game, you could a be done with a season in 1 month, providing you get around a couple games a day in.

also, the best way to play is w/a grilled cheese sammich in one hand, your controller in the other. and a lowball tumbler of Maker's Mark at your side

Another option is to only hit or only pitch and quick manage the other. Or if you want to do both you could only hit at home and only pitch on the road or the other way around. That way you have some control over each game but can get through a season fairly quickly.

Well tried to setup 3 inn games for the season but can’t find the option.

So can’t do that? Have to sim after 3?

I play every 6th game and with do some quick counts and player lock as well. I then quick manage everything else and play scenarios as I see fit.

It essentially becomes my own critical situations type mode where if my starter is clinging to a 3-2 lead in the fifth and walks two guys with 1 out I will then enter and play the scenario.

Same goes for hitting. If I am down by a run in the 7th and have runners at first and third with one out I will enter the game and see what I can do at the plate for the inning.

Then I also mix in some 3 inning stretched where I quick manage the rest.

This, to me, works very well. I am about 60 games into a season doing this and loving it. I have some impact on every game and it feels much more engaging than simming some game while playing others.

I can sit down for an hour and a half and basically play through 8 or 9 games, including a full game, and take part in the key moments in each game.

Similar to above, I quick manage games. I had tried in the past doing something where I played every 5th game or so, but even that was too slow. So what I started doing was quick manage, and then in the ninth if I was tied or down a run or whatever I'd jump in for a few quick swings. Every once in awhile on a whim I'll play a whole game (though I only hit, just don't enjoy pitching so I switch pack to quick manage on defense).

I play the opening game of every series and sim the rest. This way I get to face every team. I get to play in every stadium on my schedule. I’ll sometimes move a game to a classic stadium or minor league stadium for a change of pace. Broadcast mode. Quick counts on.

                  Sim the pitching except:
                  - sometimes I’ll pitch the first inning
                  - if I‘m trying to get a starter through the fifth inning to avoid the CPU from lifting him after like 75 pitches
                  - if have a (rare) chance at finishing off a complete game

Games take about 30 minutes tops. I get legit stats and records. Do all transactions/draft/off-season stuff. I’m in 2024 and it still feels fresh.

I don’t typically sim but similar to what others have said I’d play the first game of each series but I’d also add that I would play all rubber match games. That would get you through the season at a moderate pace.
