    Perfect Setting For 4K TV?

Hey guys I was hoping the community here could help me out with this.

I just purchased a 65 inch 4K Samsung TV. I want to know what you think are the perfect settings to play MLB the Show 20 on? I have a regular PS4 btw. Not the pro one.

I already turned off HDR per my friends recommendation since it makes the game very choppy. Should I keep Game Mode on? I was having trouble hitting and pitching with it on so I turned it off for now? What about the rest of the optimal settings for the smoothest gameplay I can get?

Thank you so much in advance.

I have HDR on but resolution is set to faster. The game looks great with that setting. I'm not 100% but the choppyness comes from resolution setting at least on my PS4 Pro thats the case.

Here's a thread about some folks experience with HDR

Do you change the resolution to faster on the PS4 or TV itself? Also, is it actually called “faster” or does it have a number or something? Sorry I’m a rookie with this stuff lol

Thanks for the tip man I’ll check out that thread.

You change both HDR and Resolution via the in game menu. And the the setting is actually called "faster" no numbers. The other two options are balanced and sharper. Sharper makes the game run like crap in my experience frame rate drops and choppy. Balanced is good but Faster looks the best at least on my TV.

You shouldn't have to adjust anything on the TV itself unless it's an issue with everything you watch/play or just calibrating the TV for best settings.

What about “Game Mode”? Do you keep that on?

I would definitely suggest leaving Game Mode on.

I have a regular PS4 by the way. Does that change anything? I don’t think there’s an option for faster, balanced, etc?

Well, obviously the Pro is designed for 4K, and it will give you smoother play and faster frame rates, but you should still be fine with the regular PS4. Take a look at the settings -- I'm not sure what the options are on the standard PS4. I would definitely put your TV into game mode, and that will give you better results for sure.

Is it weird that when my TV is in game mode I can’t hit any pitches and when I’m pitching I can’t hit the line on the meter at all?

Yes, that is a bit odd...

Yeah that's pretty odd. It should actually be the opposite! Game mode reduces input lag significantly.

I haven't bought a TV in a couple years but is there a setting called motion smoothing turned on? I know older Samsungs had the option. If that's on turn it off. What model is your TV.

It would probably be under picture settings or something like that. I did a quick Google search and your tv is a lot fancier than mine but from looking at the features there's quite a few things that could potentially be causing your issues.
