He thinks MLB The Show 21 on PS5 is not a certainty thanks to Covid 19

I would be so disappointed if I had to wait until MLB The Show 22 for a Next Gen release!

The 2018 and 2019 cover athletes weren't revealed until the first part of November.

So imo, its too early to start pressing the panic button and start "preparing for the worst".

my mindset is already locked into one more year on the ps4 then I guess I'll upgrade to a ps5 Show in '22. I don't care who's on the cover but I wouldn't mind a sneak peak at the steelbook cover. I'm no Yankee fan by any stretch but I loved the one from 18 that could have been Aaron Judge's locker. I hope 21 steelbook is as good as that one

I mean, if the clock's ticking on the Show which is 5-6 months out, the alarm bells must be ringing for Madden which we've seen basically no gameplay of. I don't think we've seen uncut gameplay from NBA 2K either, for that matter.

So does that guy post/read threads here on OS? The article was basically a few of the threads we have going right now since there was no inside information just speculation. How do I get that job.

When ps4 was released the ps4 version was not out until May. I expect a similar approach. March for a ps4 MLB and May for the ps5 version.

I agree that it is too early to hit the "panic" button. But would another year of development really be all that bad? Personally I am really comfortable with 20 and was already planning on skipping a year or two until some real changes get made to franchise mode.

Also interesting how there will be no NHL 21 next gen and EA basically copied and pasted FIFA and Madden on current gen.


I have a feeling it will be like 2014 where next gen will be out in May and March will be current gen and probably not much improvements. But.............I'm still optimistic 21 for PS4 will add more throwback uniforms in(for my sake ) that way the PS4 can ride off with a bang and in a couple years I'll buy a PS5 when the price goes down.

the only real thing of interest in the article I read was this guy thinks the Show is coming to PC's. I don't hold that same opinion, not until at least 2023 or '24. if by some chance it does come to 21, I wonder if it will be possible to edit roster files on a PC, then port that to the PlayStation.

Why does SDS wait until a week or two after the World Series to release its first trailer or cover athlete ?

It would seem like doing this during the World Series each year would create a lot more excitement and be seen by a much larger audience of baseball fans.

I would be very surprised if their isn't a PS5 version next year. Now maybe it is delayed a month like it when the first PS4 was released. My prediction is PS4 version set for March and PS5, Xbox Series X, and Switch moved to April.

I’ll likely get an Xbox next-gen so I’m hoping for some news on the other consoles before I make the purchase. The Bethesda acquisition is too big for me to ignore.

There's no way in hell there wont be a PS5 version next year for the simple fact that if not they would be missing out on all that DD money.
