Struggling To Hit Dingers
Hitting on AllStar. Power at default. 50 games into my Padres franchise and Machado is leading with 7. I know Petco isn't exactly a hitters park but still. Is it just a matter of using power swing when in hitters counts? I rarely if ever use the power swing...Tags: None -

Re: Struggling To Hit Dingers
I use Directional hitting. I assume that's dragging my homer totals down?Comment

Re: Struggling To Hit Dingers
I only occasionally use square (power swing) to hit, and rarely after one strike is on the board. no problems here hitting dingers, taters, bombs or blasts with X (normal swing) or square. I'm a timing/directional hitting guy, playing on dynamic difficultyOSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Re: Struggling To Hit Dingers
Are you pulling the ball? That’s where most of my HR’s come from. I’m on all star and never use power swingComment

Re: Struggling To Hit Dingers
My advice is:
-Be patient, and wait for your pitch.
-When using the directional influence, keep it at 3 or 9 o'clock, based on whether you're hitting with a righty or a lefty (Also depends on what the count is...if you're even, or ahead in the count, you're looking to pull the ball, if you're down, you're looking to push or put it up the middle).
-Don't be aggressive early in counts. You're trying to disrupt the pitcher. He's more apt to miss down the middle in a 2-1/3-1 count than if you're always behind.
-Re: the previous point, being in the NL West, you're probably facing a ton of really good pitching. Patience will pay off more often than not if you let a Kershaw-type pitcher get himself into trouble, instead of being super aggressive early on. You might strikeout more (I certainly do), but you'll also have a lot more hard hits.
-WAIT FOR YOUR PITCH!!!!
Hope this helps! If all else fails, just boost the solid contact slider up a notch. There's some pretty great slider sets in the vault that are worth messing around with as well. I use Armor's, and they're wonderful.2025 Expos Expansion:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...gid=1295163793Comment

Re: Struggling To Hit Dingers
Cheers! I pretty much exclusively use the contact button (X). To have success with the power button, the pitch pretty much needs to be a big 'ol meatball, and you'll need perfect timing. I also find when I influence up I'll hit a lot more ground balls (coming over the ball), and down, I hit a lot more weak pop ups (coming under the ball), which is why I use the 3/9 o'clock method.2025 Expos Expansion:https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...gid=1295163793Comment

Re: Struggling To Hit Dingers
I have the opposite problem I haven't got to the All Stars Game yet and Eddie Mathews hit 145 homeruns and Mickey Mantle has hit 146 homeruns.
I can't help it intellectually I know I should move up to higher level but It's like a drug addiction and I'm emotionally hooked. What a way to go.
