Will DH option be added in MLB 21?

Right now it’s up in the air if MLB will keep the DH in the NL next year. There’s a very good chance they do but it’s not guaranteed. That being said do you think Sony will finally add the option to turn the DH on in non-franchise/postseason modes?

I’ve bought every MLB the show game for the last decade and I’m beyond excited for next-gen but I have to say I’d be pretty tempted to skip the game this year if it’s not added. I can’t deal with a full 162 game schedule of the DH not being available for NL games. It was hard enough doing 60 games without it this year. I’m not a franchise player so I play exhibition mode mostly. This is why I’m hoping they at least give us the option to turn it on or off.

I think it's a good possibility, even if the dh isn't in effect for NL games IRL in 2021. but since the Studio has to know it's inevitable it will be permanent sooner or later, and it should be a relatively easy add, I remain optimistic it will be added.

Is there a way to change an existing franchise from no NL DH to DH or can you only do that before the franchise is started?

You can currently only do that from the beginning.

Personally, I'd like to see 4 options (AL Only, NL Only, All On, All Off) that can be toggled both at the beginning of a new franchise or during the off-season of an existing one.

I'd love the ability to make certain rule changes in the offseason similar to what NBA2K offers

I’d love those options. Granted I tell myself this every year, but I swear this is the year I stick to a carry over franchise and don’t start over when the new game comes out. It will be tough to stick with it though if they make it permanent in the NL and I’m stuck without it

The commissioner liked the DH rule and the runner on second base for extra innings and the expanded playoffs.

I dunno, when AL teams play @ NL teams, I feel like the AL pitchers are at a disadvantage versus their NL counterparts. a permanent National League DH should benefit AL teams.



On Topic - if for some reason the DH option goes away from the Show, it's gonna drastically change how I approach pitching w/Atlanta, the time is now for me to start preparing to face 9 real batters and not usually having an easy out every 2 or 3 innings. at least it will free me up from most pinch-hitting strategy for my pitchers. all my pinch-hitters better be able to man a position or there won't be room at my inn for them.

Not sure about your experiences, but I tend to get annoyed by NL pitchers hitting in this game. They foul off way to many and get dumb hits alot.

I do see more fouls than I prefer (even lowering the foul slider isn't much different)but I'm probably low enough on difficulty, even using Dynamic, that pitcher hits are where I want them. the one thing I've seen is it does seem like either pitchers vision or discipline is too high for most pitchers. I haven't looked at it in a good while but I do remember thinking one or the other felt off.

You did, as of right now, it won't be back next year.

Not just the commissioner but apparently the players are fans as well. It's expected to be a main discussion point in the CBA at the end of next season but since it was added as a provision due to COVID, it's expected to return right now. Of course, if next season is similarly delayed they can make the same provision again.

Thats the entire point of adding the DH to the NL. When the NL plays in an AL park, the NL is at a disadvantage because they cant plan to roster a DH player because they need everyone to at least be a capable fielder. Vice versa in an NL park but less so because almost all pitchers are trash hitters no matter what.

But for NL vs NL, it benefits a lot of teams while not giving anyone an unfair advantage over another.

IMO, the only possible argument for no DH is "theres extra strategy" that comes into play once every what, 5-10 games? And even then its a negative because you pinch hit a guy for one AB, where he has probably a 30% chance of just getting on base, while simultaneously depleting your bench AND possibly bullpen too if it goes into multiple extra innings.
