as I have no willpower and don't really need the 5 right away, I'm one of the few people who that's actually good for. the first thing I need to do is stay out of next gen threads lol

I wonder if OS will be moving old ps4 threads to the Last Gen subforum come closer to 21's PS5 release

I would honestly be surprised if The Show comes to PC for '21. I hope it is, bc that would be awesome, especially for the modding community.

Yeah, I won't get my hopes up. If it did though, I probably wouldn't buy another title due to the modding community. Unless the future titles make big changes to the Franchise mode lol

I'm not looking for a PC Show for the next couple seasons. but I do keep hearing about how all XBox titles are also available on pc. I dunno how accurate that is, I've never played any of the XBoxes

All of Xbox's first party exclusives are also available on PC. Not every single Xbox game. Game Pass is also awesome for PC but the developers have to allow Microsoft to put their game on there, which I don't see SDS allowing that.

I wish SDS would announce details before 2021 because I was looking to get a good gaming PC on Black Friday but don't want to drop $1k+ on a good PC if I'm gonna end up needing to get a PS5 anyway.

another interesting thing to look to over the coming months, since you can play the PS4 Show 20 on the PS5, is if you can carry-over a franchise from your Show 20 file on the PS5 to your PS5 Show 21 (the actual Show 21 that is a PS5 disc, not the Show 21 that is a PS4 disc). if Sony pulls that off, they will really been at the top of their game for this transition. I know that's asking a lot from the Studio but it will at least still be interesting news to watch out for over the coming months

great question, I was wondering the same. I'm thinking Show 16-19 should also look noticeably better, as those also look better on the PS4 Pro, but what about 14 and 15? especially 14 for me, as I still play it a huge amount. if I find out 14 is better on the PS5, then I'll find the $ somewhere and accelerate my time table for purchasing a PS5

I don’t think that’s how it works. The way I understand it, the only games that actually run tangibly, objectively better on PS5 are games that got those “enhanced for PS4 Pro” updates; so basically all the games with performance mode and 4K mode, etc. Regular, unpatched games (Bloodborne is a popular example, a game like MLB 15 would be another) are unchanged and will look and run exactly the same as they do on boost mode on the Pro.

The way I understand it, the only games that actually run tangibly, objectively better on PS5 are games that got those “enhanced for PS4 Pro” updates; so basically all the games with performance mode and 4K mode, etc. Regular, unpatched games (Bloodborne is a popular example, a game like MLB 15 would be another) are unchanged and will run the same as they do on Boost Mode on the Pro.

The reason Bloodborne doesn't run better in boost mode or on the PS5 is because it's locked to 30 FPS, and there is no option to unlock it. Boost Mode does matter, but if there's no way to improve the game beyond what the game's settings allow, it's not going to see much difference. In keeping with FromSoftware's games, Dark Souls 3 did see a PS4 Pro/Boost Mode - centered patch, but it didn't do much more than unlock the framerate, allowing the game to run beyond what the Base PS4 was capable of. Although I haven't tried it yet, I'd imagine the PS5 will make that game run even better because it was still far from 60 FPS most of the time.

I can see a scenario in which an older MLB like '15 would see improved performance even without boost mode compatibility - in RTTS with its behind-the-fielder camera angle. We all know that The Show suffers some performance issues with some stadiums (particularly MLB ones) in that view. But, since the frame rate isn't locked (minor league stadiums are proof of that) it can go as high as the game's settings will allow which for The Show is pretty much 60 FPS.

I might redownload 15 to try it out and see if that theory holds water.

Worth mentioning that, right off the bat, The PS5 pops the compatibility warning for MLB '15 when you start it up. It does not do that for '20. That said, the only thing I noticed that seemed off in the first '15 game I've played in 5 years is that half of the pitching meter was shaded a little awkwardly. The rest of the game played perfectly fine, and butter smooth. It was only the "install-in-progress" game that you're allowed to play until the full game downloads, so any thoughts on RTTS will have to wait a while.

The only other things I'd mention for now is that I can really tell how some of the improvements have made this a better game since. This appears to be before the time of the video options for PS4 Pro users, which means the game is only meant to be viewed at 1080p, the base PS4's native resolution. So, on my 1440p monitor the jaggies really start standing out, and it would likely be even worse if you were to view it on a 4K TV. The game shows its age in a big way there. And the bat sounds....oh boy, I could never go back to a previous Show for long after experiencing 20's bat sounds.

Stellar, aside from having some kind of commentary glitch (as in none.. not that I care, I won't miss the guys laughing at me when I go fishing)

.. not getting any commentary on 20 either, which I find weird considering it is 'enhanced'.
