What TV are you using, I have a Sony 900e and with HDR on, my picture is considerably darker than with HDR off. I did not have this issue with my PS4 Pro? Any suggestions?

Why no PS4 Pro (HDR On)?

Hmmm odd, I am using a Samsung but dunno why HDR on would lead to darker image. I would assume a calibration issue so maybe check your PS5 HDR settings first since it seems like the TV should not just change between consoles that much.

The PS4 Pro has HDR on, sorry if that is not clear. The HDR pops a bit more on the PS5 with similar settings, which maybe could go to the question above where it depends a bit on where you set the manual HDR settings on the console.

Either way, my point was more to show the "chugging" of the PS4 Pro on the sharper setting vs. it looking much smoother on PS5 even from just two basic clips of pitching and a hit to the outfield.

Unfortunately I’ve never gotten HDR to look good in HDR game mode on my LG Oled C7. Standard HDR mode looks beautiful but has too much lag.

That's a bummer, is it just an older TV or what?

              it's a fantastic 2017 model.

The 4k LG C7 OLED TV offers excellent picture quality thanks to its ability to display true blacks. It's especially good for gaming thanks to its very low input ...

Edit: according to rtings, it needs to be professionally color calibrated.

It is a great tv for sure, I think it’s more the way SDS incorporated HDR in The Show or something because HDR game mode looks besutiful for Tomb Raider or Call of Duty.

Chase, that's all CPU vs CPU gameplay right? I definitely remember the "watch mode" behind the pitcher view on the Pro running exactly like that in Sharper mode. Absolutely night and day difference on the PS5 in performance, and honestly I thought the framerate in the CPU-only games in that camera was just limited to 30. The PS5 disproves that theory.

And, as I mentioned in another thread....it's locked 60 FPS (or so close to that as to not be noticeable) in RTTS Fielder view too, which has previously only been possible at low-poly count stadiums like many of the minor league stadiums and perhaps Kauffman, given the right conditions. Getting called up to the bigs usually meant you heading into framerate hell when the ball came your way in the field - but not anymore!

This game benefits GREATLY from the PS5's extra horsepower, and it's because it's never locked to a framerate below 60 FPS. Madden CAN do something similar, but to enable the functionality across the whole game the system resolution has to be dropped to 1080p.

I hope this kind of performance isn't sacrificed too much for better visuals in '21 when it's actually developed for the PS5....but we'll see. Honestly hard to go back to a version with framerate dips after playing it like this.

I figured this would be the case. I don't remember what version it was, maybe 16? They did something to the game graphically, to the dugouts or something. Like they gave them more texture or something like that. Ever since that happened, I've had some really crappy experiences with MLB the Show and it's framerate. The only thing I could ever guess was that maybe the PS4, even the Pro I played on, just wasn't powerful enough for everything the game was trying to do. Glad to hear it runs so good on PS5. Can't wait to get one.

Well after many attempts, I somehow scored a PS5 in today's Sony Direct drop. So in about a week, I'll finally discover the level of performance that MLB the Show has been trying to run at for years lol. I can't wait!

I had this 65" Sony 4k HDR TV and honestly the HDR sucked, I played with HDR off and any 4K content from Verizon FIOS with HDR looked dim and not good
The Sony X900C 4k LED TV is very thin and has good color accuracy at an angle. However, the blacks are poor and not uniform, which means it is not a great choice...

I just bought this 65" LG OLED and oh my god the difference is absolutely night and day.....television shows, movies, 4K content and most impprtantly gaming is 100x better
The LG BX OLED is the entry-level TV in LG's 2020 OLED lineup, and like most OLED TVs, it offers excellent overall performance. It has an infinite contrast ratio...

I will never buy anything other than a LG in the near future.....the BX is the same as CX just has 2 HDMI 2.1 port instead of 4

The best TV for PS5 that we've tested is the Samsung S95F OLED. It's an exceptional TV that delivers an incredible gaming experience.
