Make playing defense fun! See Super Mega Baseball 3 as an example. MLB The Show takes too much out of the gamer’s hands.

There’s a few things that I’m hoping for, but the main thing I want is a 120fps option.

I have seen this post for going on 11 years since I started playing this series since 2009.

If you want the photo realistic animations that have evolved over the course of this series you have to give up a certain amount of control to see what you see in real life.

SMB is an arcade baseball game. MLB The Show is a series that IMO has been the best sports game actually trying to be a simulation on a console.

So with that will come some level of loss of control. The same can be said of NBA 2K series which has killer realistic and life like player animations.

This is exactly why I went to auto fielding and manual button throwing.

I don’t disagree that manual fielding can sometimes be a tad clunky and not feeling like you have total control once the animation kicks in.

I loved fielding on MVP 2005. But I actually prefer the beauty of The Show on auto fielding (and making all the throws by simply preloading them and watching the ratings play out).

And most fans of this series would not want to see two steps back in realistic player movement animations for more control. Some will. But most won’t.

Ideally more animations, including slides, dives, jumps, and in general just more athleticism.

Lighting and everything is already fantastic. Make the players look more athletic in their movements. I would love to see 15-20 different animations for dives, jumps, and slides

I think we see mostly small increases like people were saying by playing 20 on the PS5.

I think this is a tough year for them to make any major changes across the board because of designing for the 4 and 5 along with the current world environment. Yes they are both just PCs essentially but different limits have to have some impact.

Simply we don't know how much outside factors impacted the game.

Personally I do not have a PS5 yet and will probably stick with 20 this year anyways.

I think the real strides come in 2022 when they have more time under their belt and one release on the PS5 under their belt.

I totally agree, there are so many animations in the game but I think we only have 2 jump animations and a few dives. Also slides could use some extra!

The MVP series had the best diving controls; just push the R stick in the direction of the ball and the player would make the appropriate dive. In the Show you have to decide in a split second if you need/want to push the dive or the jump button and we all know the player will only jump straight up no matter where the ball is [emoji2373]

And yes I know there is an option to assign diving and jumping to one button but that has NEVER worked properly.

yeah, there isn't any laziness or mailing it in from the Studio's side of things. rather it falls completely on Sony's part of undermanning and overworking a shorthanded staff. I'm hoping with other consoles eventually coming to the Show, the budget will increase exponentially and the Show will move up from what I consider a niche market and start pulling a share considerable to Madden FIFA and NBA2k

Tough to pinpoint specifics since this game does so much extremely well. But i would love to see pitching animations take a leap. The way pitchers look when throwing the ball looks unnatural to me. It’s a very violent motion in real life, but the game’s pitching animations in this regard does not reflect that.

Yes, please! It looks like some of the older mo-caps are just lobbing in knuckleballs when it's 95+mph.

I'd also like to see batting animations get refined. There's definitely an unnatural hitch when hitting or if the user selects different batting stances...the branch to get to the end result is just off.

Totally agree. And to add to that, the catcher behind the plate when pitching from broadcast camera is very stiff and looks oversized compared to what you would see on tv. Not hating on the game at all, but these upgrades would make it close to perfect

I'm hoping to see a little better texturization on player faces (especially for non-face scanned players). I'm really expecting night games to have a more spectacular look with Ray-Tracing and so on. Probably some better weather effects (would love to see some puddling of water in rain games).

But this is the most important thing to me...keep it all at 60 FPS...

This goes hand in hand in my opinion. I hope that the way we see crowds react to big moments in the game isn't delayed like it has been in the past. The visual art of crowds standing up, waving rally towels in playoff games, things like this are synced well with the audio. I want to be able to not just see the energy but feel the energy. This is one thing that the show has lacked for some time, especially in the postseason. For those of you that have been to postseason baseball games, you know how the ballpark is electric, and just has a different feel. Well as a Reds fan JoshC1977 may not know..

It's a great game but in the past they have taken poor advice which has made the game worse.

Somebody one year successfully pushed for more chased pitches. The result was extreme wild pitches for a year until it was patched.

Somebody one year successfully pushed for balls curving foul down both foul lines. That's still in the game as if the baseball has a magnet inside and the walls in foul territory are made of metal.

Somebody wanted more bobbled balls. This isn't as extreme as balls curving weirdly but it still made the game less realistic.

Other non-graphical changes were enacted to make the game more random. One was scouting.

Graphical changes that improve animations I'm all in favor of. Change just for the sake of change I disagree with.

Swing animations, especially the HR swing. This has never looked right to me. Would love to see a life like power swing without the need of the home run cam.

Not sure if it was poor advice. I think it was maybe more of a poor implementation of good advice.
