Relax, bro. It’s a forum. For the people who are invested in their year to year franchise it’s a big deal. I can understand them sticking with what they love and disappointed with what they know going forward. SDS gets to hear all sides of the coin.

But, if they can't confirm that it's coming back at any point? I'm not buying it again until they do confirm that it will be. In which case, I'll join the others that are saying "eh, I'll just stick with 20 then."

Now, I'm a bit different from Armor and countryboy and others, in that my carry over save is only in its 3rd season, so I have less detachment to my team than they do. However - after having Y2Y saves become a thing, I can't envision myself ever playing a baseball franchise again without it. Even if I only buy the game every other year, I can only see myself getting through MAYBE 3 seasons in that time, and even that is stretching it.

I love The Show, but I just can't see myself investing time in a baseball franchise mode where I have to start over every year. Madden and the future NCAA Football are a different story. You can get through 5-8 years in a single cycle with those games if you want, see your players develop, see the leagues really change with roster turnover, etc. But with MLB? You're drafting guys who are sometimes up to 4 or 5 seasons away from even playing on your MLB roster. So outside of simming several seasons, you'll never see these guys without the Y2Y save feature.
I think most y2y people would be okay if they stated it was returning next year. It still be a downer to restart but knowing it's definitely coming back would soften the blow. I said in another thread, no y2y saves means I start skipping the game some years. I like playing every pitch and every game. No way I could get invested in a franchise if I had to start over every year.

        Jesus H Christ???

Did you even read the entire post? Obituary?

        Hardly.

Making proclamations the game is dead? Tell me where I said that?

Your post is the one with hyperbole all over it.

I have no issues with what they are doing.....I think I made it clear. I have sadness that 10’s of thousands of hours of roster work is being vaporized.

        Read man.

I said I completely understand why they had to do this with writing code for a new console/consoles (XBOX One and XBOX X) Cross play....etc etc etc.

        I get it.

And yeah....it’s a forum and it is my opinion.....that the feature has a great chance of not coming back. It is incredibly difficult to do this for multiple platforms. It may take years before it ever returns.

        The game is not dead.

I am still playing 4 different versions of it.

Jesus H Christ man. As you like to say.

Do I think the game is moving in a direction that I do not think some of us long time hard core simulation type franchises heads love? Yeah...my opinion.

If they said they are coming back in 2022 I think we can all agree that would be awesome news.

Would that entice me to buy 21? Naaaa. I am too invested in what I have going on 20. I can wait.

And yeah....spot on about NCAA and Madden. On Madden 21 I am already in year 6 of my Dolphins CHise playing every single game. Far easier to do multiple years in football in one cycle.

This is exactly why I would like a 54 game season length(one game per series). 14, 29(if I'm remember correctly) didn't make much sense imo. 82(half season) I can understand.

I liked the 29 game season, play every team once. made for a nice quick ''tournament'' but instead of 54, I'd like a 58 game season, play every team once @home & once on the road.

I do like to play the occasional 54 game season in franchise, sim 108 & play 54. you know 99% of teams are gonna win 54 & lose 54. it's the ''rubber'' 54 that determine your season.

I never played the 81 game season, never saw much use in that. if your gonna play that many, might as well play 162 IMO

I can understand if significant changes are being made to Franchise and RTTS, including integration with DD, that carryover saves were not possible due to programming data structure changes. However, assuming we are staying with a 90 player franchise roster, I am not sure if this would also require no carryover of created rosters.

The issue of carrying over rosters is something I would hope SDS would clarify sooner rather later given how labor intensive it is to create historic or special rosters.

Late to the party on this thread, but my first thought is they can't do carryover saves because franchise is receiving such an overhaul it's can't be compatible with the previous file.

Probably a bit too hopeful. The initial press release said franchise was "revamped" but soon after the wording was switched to something less grand.

I'm good with this knowing franchise will be getting a face-lift.
I will happily be putting in the hours building my rosters in 21 as long as It is confirmed carryover saves will be in 22. [emoji461]️

Might be a long wait. There is no chance they will confirm an MLB The Show 22 feature until at least December 2021, more probably late January or February 2022. They will say in the upcoming promotional materials that it’s a possibility but that’s as far as they will go. They know better than to promise something that isn’t already done.

Good point, but that was a feature that had been developed already.

I’d be stoked if I’m wrong, but it’s too much of a PR risk to promise ‘celebrity guest’ and then deliver a Kardashian. Especially given the year after year after year frustrations that Franchise players have endured with regards to the superficial (almost ‘afterthought’) improvements and even removal of features from the mode.

This had to be at least a bit expected from people.

Transitioning to a brand new console generation, while also making the game available on the Xbox pretty much doomed carry over saves from the beginning.

Franchise probably had to be re-written with brand new coding for the next gen PS5 and the Xbox consoles.

I think this bodes well for the future of franchise, but I don’t have much hope for franchise mode to be feature heavy in 21.

It’s needed quite the facelift for YEARS now, so hopefully this can be the start of a foundation they can build on and really give us the franchise we’ve been clamoring for.

Everyone here has been hoping and praying for a deeper and better franchise mode, well, if carry over saves are a 1 or 2 cycle casualty to get us there, then so be it.
