You can load the 19 rosters into 20 but that is it. You would have to transfer players over one by one to get from 17 to 18 then from 18 to 19.Funkycorm

Really? So, if I ever get 20, I can literally take a roster from 19 and import it in its entirety into 20 and keep using it? Do you know what happens if you create a player in 19 that is actually available in 20 with photo and everything? It doesn't convert your created player to a real one does it?Comment

MLB 20 has a nifty feature where when you go into edit roster mode it gives you the option to import a full roster from MLB 19 (but only MLB 19). If there are real (non user-created) MLB players in the carryover roster they will automatically get their updated pictures and face scans, real retired players will be replaced with a placeholder fake player. Any actual MLB players created or edited from an originally fake player by you will remain the same as you made them.
It is possible to get a "roster" from 17 to 20, but not directly, and certainly not quick. You first need to get it to 18, then 19, and then use 20's import roster function to get it from 19. To get the roster from 17 to 18 you would need to start a 30 team control franchise in 17, then fire up 18 and go into franchise mode choosing the "carry over franchise from MLB 17" option instead of starting a whole new one. Then within that franchise on 18, go into the rosters, select a player and choose the "export player" option from the popup menu. Note that you can't export real (non user-created) MLB players, and again those real players will be given their updated face scans and pictures and retired real players will be replaced by a generic fake player. Basically if a player has a user-editable face they can be exported. After maxing out the saved player data slots (I think like 50 at a time) you exit franchise mode and go into edit roster from the main menu - depending on the type of roster you are going for you may want to first download a roster from the community vault to use as a base to build on, such as the full minors one or one where every player is a zeroed out Joe Random, but the default roster can be used as well. Within the roster, select a player (real or fake) to replace and choose the "import player" option. Do that for the 50 or so exported players you had saved, then exit and save the roster and go back into the franchise and export a second batch of players, overwriting the first round of players. Once you have exported and imported all the players you want, repeat the whole process to get it from 18 to 19. You may also need to sim thru a full season in the previous game for it to allow you to carryover the franchise. Obviously a tedious task, but it is doable with a bit of time on your hands.Comment
