    Potential PC workaround?

Since the game is coming to XBOX for the first time, and Microsoft has been saying their new titles will be on XBOX GamePass, is it safe to assume MLB 21: The Show will be released to GamePass, therefore playable on PC? Or am I missing something here?

I know people want a dedicated PC release, but this could be a potential workaround unless I'm misinformed.

Be among the first to play the latest titles from Xbox Game Studios and ID@Xbox, available to Xbox Game Pass members the same day as their global release.
MLB 21 isn't going to be on Xbox Gamepass Day 1 Library (or ever IMO), its mainly just first party titles.. even then, you're just streaming (cloud gaming) it, not actually PC gaming.

When they say "their" new titles, they mean titles published under the Xbox umbrella.

SDS is still firmly a Sony studio.

You're thinking of Xcloud. With games pass for PC, you actually download and install the game client side.

Yes, xbox games that HAVE PC counterparts. Otherwise, as with PS Now, it is a cloud service. Unless Xbox game pass does not do that. Either way if that is the case, if it has no PC counterpart, then you are not playing it via game pass anyways. haha. I thought they offered through their xbox app the ability to cloud play (like PS NOW).

From what you said though, The Show would never touch that service then as regards to OP's question.

Xbox games pass does not let you stream games. It's a seperate service.

Xbox is trying to roll together all of their online services though. That's what Xbox live ultimate is. You get Xbox live Gold, games with gold (those two together are the equivalent of PS plus), Xbox games pass, Xcloud (streaming on supported devices), and Xbox games pass for PC (which is actually a seperate service from games pass), all with one subscription.

But for any games pass game, you have to download and install it. The game might be on Xcloud as well, and you can cross save, but games pass (both PC and console versions) will only allow you to download and install games if you only have that service. It's not like PS Now.

Are PS5 games coming to PC at all anyway? I remember hearing rumors about that before PS5 came out that there was a chance we would see ports. I know there are some games that already go on there, but I mean structurally maybe we were going to see much more of this?

Sony has stated they want to bring more games to the PC, and have also stated they have several titles "in the works" in terms of ports of both current and future games. However they have been very tight-lipped about which games.

I question how much Sony will stick to this commitment. I have no doubt that they desperately want to publish on PC, since the writing is on the wall that the traditional idea of gaming platforms is quickly approaching its end, but a lot of Sony's recent success has been because they've been so supportive of their developers.

I've heard (unsubstantiated) rumours that, while Horizon: Zero Dawn ended up being a good idea to bring to the PC, the Gurella Games employees hated working on the port. There's no doubt that while the game looks much better on PC, it's still buggier than the PS version, despite the fact that it's received its final update (PS still very playable though and excellent graphical upgrades on PC).

With how supportive Sony is being to their devs, I could imagine them caving to demands to stick to one platform.

Now maybe Sony has a team dedicated to making ports, solving the problem, or maybe all of my info is bunk. This is a lot of conjecture.

The moral of the story is any solid information on the subject of PC ports is hidden behind Sony's ambiguous messaging. I don't blame them, especially if my conjecture turns out to be true. You can't really commit to specific platforms when you want to be supportive to your devs.

One final, personal note: I think this (supposed) support for devs is Sony's greatest strength. It's what makes the games that makes them my favourite publisher in the industry. However looking ahead, it could unfortunately turn into their greatest weakness. As much as I want to believe otherwise, I doubt they could take the Nintendo route and exist as an outlier. Leveraging their power as a publisher and moving away from platform dependence does seem, from my perspective at least, to be the most logical step forward.
