By late this summer a lot of these horders who are scalping systems will be stuck with excess inventory.

One of the major reasons for a lack of a variety of products is the semi conductor shortage, lack of silicon and the manufacturing plants over seas that are shut down, or can't produce enough to meet the needs. Even automobile manufacturing plants have started to shut down because they can't build their cars without the chips they need for the electronics in them.

Yet you can get an I-phone 11 or Galaxy 100 or whatever number they are on. All use semi conductors, chips etc. i can go to any car lot and buy a new car....take your pick of manufacturer.

Look the entire thing was mismanaged.

      Bottom line.

I like the optimism. everyone thought things would open up summer last year too.(winter where I live we are covid free here though in Australia) only this time we hope the vaccine works

Re: Why Buy The Show 21

I was extremely lucky, I went onto Best Buy's website when the very first wave go released. I missed it, but stuck on Best Buy like 20 extra minutes and I guess some canceled orders got released to order again. I wasn't so lucky with the RTX 3080 until 2 or 3 months later.

Since I have a PS5, I'm extremely excited for 21, more than I ever have for a Show release, and I own every single release since 06. The stadium builder, plus the ability to be a two-way player in RTTS (I've always had to make two separate saves to do both every year) has me infinitely excited for this years game. I'm waiting to see what other improvements they've made to the rest of the game.

I can't fault those who haven't managed to get a PS5 who aren't excited for the game since there's less for them, but I can imagine that 22 will be a great year too. More normalized development cycle, possibly a larger team with the fact that they will most likely double sales with Xbox being brought into the fold, and I think they'll be the year for improvements. Maybe not on the Xbox One and PS4 but certainly on the next gen consoles. And hopefully everyone will have gotten one by then.

this is where I'd say something like we can put a man on the moon but we can't keep next-gen console demand satisfied.

As a sales rep within the electronic distribution world, I can assure you that the semiconductor shortage, as well as other electronic components isn’t horse****.

I’m seeing lead times on things that are mfr overseas tgat are normally 6-8 weeks ballooning to anywhere from 16-24 weeks.

It isn’t pretty at the moment.

Again......I know supply chains have been disrupted.....but ask Apple how they launched a new I-Phone to a tee and far more i-phones are sold than video game consoles.

They use semi conductors and silicone and all that stuff too.

I think they blew it. There is nothing wrong with calling it out.

A disaster of a launch, and everyday retail shoppers have been royally screwed.

You don’t hear about scalpers for Galaxy or i-phones because people can’t get them.

                TV’s, I mean come on.

CB this was a crap launch. And they (Sony) have a lot of accountability in it.

And again the retailers are not handling it in a fair manner.

But hey thats ok. It will normalize soon enough. And Like I said, by year end if you want a PS5 or new XBOX X there will be plenty by then.

When the PS5 game is released and IF it absolutely blows us away I wonder how many guys who say they won’t buy from a scalper will do just that? I saw a lot of PS5 for around $950-1,000, that’s why I jumped at $750. Perhaps bite the bullet now (if it won’t hurt you in the wallet too much) instead of perhaps bad news in a couple/few months that they STILL aren’t readily available.

Yes, you’ve said so because of the lack of carry over franchise. I guess this is directed and people chompin’ at the bit to get one for this game.

I’m not disputing the handling or the ability to prevent bots from buying up inventory.

All I’m saying is the component shortage isn’t a bs excuse being used.

As for why phones are more readily available versus game consoles could be a few reasons which one could be the actual semiconductors and components being used in each particular item.

Semiconductor is a very broad description that houses hundreds if not thousands of various electronic components.

I will not pay a penny over msrp, period. That goes for anything, not just a console. I'm perfectly capable of buying a PS5 or a RTX3090 at multiple times the msrp, but the only way scalpers will be shut down is if no one buys from them. I will not feed fuel to the fire.

The only issue (and sad issue) with that is, you won’t, but someone else always will.

That’s why scalping will never go away.

What each retailer ought to do is let you sign up for a waiting list and when it's your turn you get a text or email notification and X amount of time to complete your purchase or you lost your spot. Could be an hour, could be 5 minutes.
