Am I the only one who thinks defense cameras need improvements?

I don’t know how 2021 will turn out with what new features including any new cameras or camera styles. But I’ve been pretty unsatisfied and perplexed with the lack of defense camera options and styles. And even worse was starting in 2019 the dynamic defense camera was pulled way back from the action. I don’t know if this was intended to show more action on the screen but I have not liked it and prefer the old more close up view in 14-18.

And I never knew why in the world they got rid of the low camera view that used to go along with medium and high? Stuff just boggles my mind.

I don’t know if I’m in the minority but I prefer cameras to be more up close to the action, and the show lately doesn’t have many options for that except for broadcast style and I’m not the biggest fan of that one because of depth perception.

I’m so with you on this! They could at least have kept the old view but I think it doesn’t work well with the fish eye view and since that’s the default view since....2019?

I’ve asked for the low camera back and Ramone said there was no plans to bring it back. That not many people used it.

So much of the detail in this game is lost when it looks like I’m fielding from a blimp camera.

Thats unfortunate. It’s just funny how there’s a gazillion hitting camera options and features but then defense cameras are so lacking.

answer: yes. but mostly because there's usually always room for improvement in most anything

I just wish we could actually see home runs land in the seats. Not just see the outfield run up against the wall looking up

Yes, they need improvement. It sounds like I have different wants/needs than the OP, though.

To this day we still don't have a true broadcast cam (just take the no-doubter/HRD broadcast cam and make it playable, that would be a start though it's a little low), they don't allow you to use the defensive dynamic cam on offense, the retro cam doesn't get a delay from contact while on offense nor does it show the location of bomb home runs... I just think there is a lot they can do still here, and once a camera is provided then it goes untouched and remains untouched until the next one is made, which isn't often.

I can't speak on how they could improve defensive cameras when controlling the entire team, but I would absolutely LOVE a first-person camera option for fielding, batting, and pitching in RTTS and any other player-lock situation. It'd be interesting to be able to play the game from a true player's eye point-of-view.

Take Two accomplished this in NFL 2K back in '05, so I can't imagine it would be too hard to do for baseball.

You mean Visual Concepts, and they did this back in '03 first. Sorry, just fact-correcting.

Blue Shift did this for ESPN Major League Baseball as well, but it wasn't very well done in comparison. I dabbled with it time to time, though. It could obviously be improved upon these days.

The only chance you see this won't be just as a camera, though. It would be a VR version of the game, or VR support in and of itself. I don't know if we'll see anything like this now that the game is across multiple consoles rather than just on PlayStation, though.

Visual Concepts, yes, my bad. Never was a big fan of any 2K game, TBH, so not familiar w/ the history.

Why do you think the only chance for this to happen is through a VR experience, though? They already have ball-tracking in place w/ head movement in the game, right? And why would multi-platform support affect this in any way?

I just don't think you'd reach out to enough people who would want it, and when you implement it they'll question its use without VR support included. Third-person is much less disorienting to the consumer, I suppose.

This is completely unfounded material I'm providing here, by the way haha.
