Little bit of a bummer. Is there really any difference from using the download code vs having the disk? I’m an offline player and sometimes I will turn off my internet if I don’t want a certain patch. Do you think that would affect anything if I use the download code?

As far as playing the game there shouldn't be a difference.

I'm not sure if you're required to be connected to the internet while using the download code.

I know you have to have the PS4 disc inserted in the console in order to be able to access the download code (PS5 version)

If I get the JR edition for $84.99, do I just need the PS4 disc to download the PS5 game? Or do I need to have the PS4 disc in the console everytime I play the PS5 version?

You need to have the PS4 disc in everytime you play the PS5 version. That was my understanding anyway.

Unless you purchase one of the Jackie Robinson collectors editions, your progress on the PS4/Xbox One will not transfer to their respective next gen console counterpart(PS5 or Xbox Series X/S)

Okay, old-timer confusion here.

I order the JR Edition for $84.99 I get to play the digital version early.

I don’t need the PS4 disk because I’m not interested in that version, nor do I have the disk.

You’ll need to ask for a refund. Go to the above page and scroll down until you see “ps store and refunds” click the little “plus” sign to open the menu. Scroll down to “refund assistant” click on the blue box that says “request refund”. You will chat with a bot and then you will be transferred to a real person. Explain your situation and that you’d like to upgrade The Show. They should refund your money so you can upgrade.

Worked perfectly got my refund instantly and got the Jackie Robinson edition preordered. Stoked to start up 4 days early thanks again.

Did you order the Digital JR edition? If so, you don’t need a disc to play either the PS4 or PS5 version, and you can either one 4 days early.

I believe the main difference is if you ordered the physical version, if you want to play the PS5 version you need the PS4 disc inserted at all times, even though the PS5 is just a digital code.

So again, if you’re digital, no disc needed ever.

Yup. The Digital JR Edition gets you access to the digital versions of both PS4 and PS5. I believe this is the only way to get the 4 day early access, regardless of the console you’re playing on. And then yea, you’ll already have the PS5 version ready to download when/if you do get a PS5.
