Re: Where is the gameplay
Re: Where is the gameplay
It is never right for us to be toxic to developers on an internet forum, social media or anywhere else. However for developers to blame that as a reason to not interact with paying customers esp those as eager and interested in their game as us is a total cop out. If you like the many more positive comments here then you have to take the good with the bad and have a thicker skin. It is called accountability, something EA has lost and SDS is losing quickly by blocking friendly Twitter inquiries on what is going on with missing features.

I could care less if they interact or not I jus want them to quit taking out the best features of the game Y2Y saves ,SOTS, online franchise ,also doing nothing to franchise but taking out cool features like being able to sale hot dogs , jerseys ,hats ,programs and supplement income and adding stuff no one really wants MtO and I called the moment they added DD that this game was going in the wrong direction !!!It is never right for us to be toxic to developers on an internet forum, social media or anywhere else. Re: Where is the gameplay
I’m not denying they probably tell people “we don’t go to OS because of the toxic nature of the forum”. Truth be told they don’t come here because they would have to answer a stream of franchise questions. This is where this community kind of resides. What’s the point. They do t want to field these questions and they certainly don’t want to answer them. Whatever reason they give other than that I simply don’t believe. And that is my choiceComment

Re: Where is the gameplay
The problem is, they stopped prioritizing the kind of gamers that frequent this forum a long time ago. And as that has happened, the amount of negative threads on this game has ballooned.
If they aren’t making the games for more sim minded folks, the last thing they want to do is drag their users here by being active. Because this place treats their core audience as kiddies, cheesers, and mostly uneducated.
This was happening when it was The Show guys that were allowed to troll and trash the 2K forum with impunity. When 2K died, they turned their snobbery onto their own.
Sim gamers are the worst thing that ever happened to console sports gamers. And I say that as one who was part of that problem for a long time. Once Sony was forced to broaden their appeal, this forum became a problem.
It doesn’t have to just be toxic to the devs. This place treats sports gamers that just want to have fun, regardless of sim, as dirt.

Re: Where is the gameplay
Setting aside that I don't think anyone has specifically come out and said why interaction lessened here (I think it's mostly been assumptions, no?), it's not a cop out. Paying customers or not, we're not owed any interaction or even a seat at the table. It is never right for us to be toxic to developers on an internet forum, social media or anywhere else. As mentioned, OS/forums in general are a dying breed, so any interaction here is up to whatever a developer feels like doing in their spare time...and who wants to spend their spare time in what would inevitably go past critique and conversation and turn into pointless attacks on them and their work?
They can (and do, as you'll occasionally see names appear as online) still get the feedback from just reading the forums.Comment

You raise some good points. The most toxic behavior I've seen on this forum was back in 07-10 when I played MLB 2K. It was very unfortunate to see The Show fans coming over there just to troll...but it was very real.Last edited by jeffy777; 04-15-2021, 02:30 PM.Comment

Re: Where is the gameplay
Re: Where is the gameplay
I remember being laughed at a few times because I said that MLB 2k played a good game of baseball when tuned properly. The Show plays great and did/does many things better than what 2k did back in the day, but often it was treated as 2k baseball couldn't even sniff The Show's quality, but to me the two games were pretty close in quality and the major differences in the games were where the priorities were between the two development studios.
If there is one thing that The Show still hasn't bested 2k Baseball at even today, it's presentation. I think the MLB 2k series had the best on field presentation of any sports game ever. The commentary back in those days was the best and I still view it as being better than even that of NBA 2k which most would say has the best presentation in any sports game these days.

I agree the 2k MLB presentation was stellar. The show is probably the worst presentation of all sports games at the moment, although I dont really like madden too much eitherComment

Re: Where is the gameplay
Re: Where is the gameplay
I would put it NBA 2k, The Show, then Madden for the big 3 sports. The Show is not awful by any means. It does many things well. The commentary is not done all too well, neither is the way they implemented Heidi, but it is still pretty decent. It's been better in past releases than it was in 20, but I wouldn't consider the presentation to be a weakness of the game like I would Madden's. It isn't a strength either, it's just average to above average overall.
Having the commentary in the booth and in the dugout from Heidi be better quality with more emotion in key moments would immediately give it the update it needs.

Agreed my man. In addition to presentation, 2K nailed a lot of things that The Show still hasn't after all these years. The throwing meter in 2K10 is still far superior to what we have now for example. Of course The Show excels in so many other ways, but I do miss having two options and the competition factor was healthy for the devs. There are many things The Show straight up ripped from 2K, such as quick manage, custom cameras, stealing controls, analog hitting/pitching, etc. which was a benefit to all of us.Last edited by jeffy777; 04-15-2021, 03:30 PM.Comment

Re: Where is the gameplay
Re: Where is the gameplay
In my honest opinion, I think Madden has the worst presentation. Of course it’s tough to compare across different sports, but Madden is just a mess. It’s not immersive at all, it doesn’t stat track well, commentary is informative, sure, but it doesn’t mesh well with what goes on, and their new Next Gen Stats presentation isn’t implemented well.
I’d say the worst part of the presentation for the Show is the commentary (and Heidi, to a certain extent). Otherwise, for the most part, it looks and feels like an actual network presentation.
I haven’t played any MLB 2K games in a while, but I am of firm belief that NFL 2K had the best presentation, on and off the field.MSE - DENVER BRONCOS, 47-22 (3-2, playoffs)
WWML - CAROLINA PANTHERS, 20-7 (0-2, playoffs)
NSML - DENVER BRONCOS, 27-5 (4-0, playoffs)
XML - DENVER BRONCOS, 51-17 (6-3, playoffs)

Re: Where is the gameplay
Re: Where is the gameplay
It will be all over the Golf thread soon, I suspect.
It’s just massive concern trolling, and for whatever reason, OS moderation is powerless to stop it. Fans of one game, try the other, then in “good faith” explain how the people enjoying the game aren’t “missing out.”
It is the exact phenomena that has turned the sports gaming genre into a one AAA game per sport. OS doesn’t cause it, it is just another forum that enables it, and the moderation here is often part of the problem.
The main mods you see are fine, but treat every incident in isolation. But as we saw in the MLB2K forum, it’s just different waves of jerks trolling the same fans of the game over and over. So it is the fans of the “bad” game that get identified as the problem.
And there are a more than a couple of mods that concern troll the forums, and protect the concern trolls. I doubt it is intentional. They just grew up thinking it is normal behavior, and OS does not seem to moderate concern trolling at all, which makes it appear accepted.
