Jersey number in Road to The Show 21

Same question I have every single year, and every single year I'm disappointed. Has it been said whether or not we will constantly lose our jersey number throughout our career in Road to The Show or have they addressed this issue?

If you're not aware for some reason in every year so far when you wear any number, you lose that number if your team acquires a player that has the same jersey number as you. Some have speculated that it is based on whoever has the highest overall rating, but that's not the case. I had a player that was a 99 overall and I lost my jersey number to someone that had a rating in the 70's. This also happens when/if your team calls up a player, it's not just the case through trades or free agency.

While this may seem like a minor deal to many, it really kills the mode for me, especially considering the fact that we see the back of our player and his jersey so often. It's extremely disappointing to me that we're not able to just edit any players uniform number, equipment, etc. on any team, period. This would be the (seemingly) easiest solution to the problem.

Would love to know this as well. In past years I’ve just made sure to pick a higher number that you rarely ever see.

That's what I've done in years past as well, however, more and more players are starting to wear high, "non-traditional," numbers so it could screw it up anyway. 73's, 79's, 88's etc.

And also, I don't want to wear a high number. I want to wear #3 if possible, it shouldn't be that hard for them to give us that option, especially when the mode focuses on your own, created player exclusively. I'm surprised every year that this is not brought up more.

The only time I experience this is when my RttS had a preferred number on a team but it was already issued to someone else. I would then just change it to something that wasn't chosen.

Some have speculated that it is based on whoever has the highest overall rating, but that's not the case.

Maybe it's somehow tied to the MLB licensing. Maybe they can't change the numbers of actual players.
