Also an unscientific observation (in general, not specific to gaming) - people who dislike something are more likely to post about it than people who are enjoying themselves.
Does this mean everything is 100% liked? Of course not. But impressions based on 12 hours of availability aren't the most reliable gauge yet either. Definitely keep checking reviews and see how things shake out.
Oh, you have a point for sure. But to intimate that the game is not a disappointment to many long time supporters - regardless of their reasons - is overlooking the reality of the situation.
I am sure it looks a bit prettier...they added and tightened up animations. Lighting is better...and other minor graphical improvements. But the things they both did not include, or just flat removed is so disappointing to so many.
Little things like asking for the HR cam to be optional. Upgrading the announcing and sideline reporter presentation. And head scratchers like create a stadium that can only be used in daytime only. Just to name a few. To say nothing of the infamous Y2Y saves.
I am not saying it is not a good game. On field has always been stellar and continues to be so. But as a new release, and a next gen one at that, I am finding more people are disappointed than jumping for joy.
Love the gameplay, though I find it harder than ever to hit, even on easier difficulties. I'd adjust pitch speed, but that disables XP apparently, which is a terrible decision.

I was having hitting issues also and I realize i didnt have game mode on and now since i have it on i can hit better so if you have a newer tv make sure game mode is on
Great gameplay. My only complaint is 95% of check swings are called strikes. Even with contact swing with great hitters.
I noticed that a bit as well. Thought I had checked quite a few times that were appealed that I went around. Then once a swore I swung and it was a check. Odd

I played the last several years on default hall of fame without any slider adjustments. This year, it sure seems like all star plays like the old hall of fame. I’m getting my normal 7-8 hits a game on all star. Hall of fame I was getting blown away by fastballs. I think that a lot of the “issue” is how much smoother 60 FPS is. It’s also easier to pick up the hall from the pitcher, so I’m drawing even more walks now. Are you on next gen?
Love some of the new face scans and animations, but it feels like the PS5 version of this game just isn’t finished. There are a lot of dark stadiums at night and lighting issues and glitches, mostly in night games. I haven’t been able to download a single roster since the game went live. Crowd noise goes out completely from time to time, I’ll end an inning and the next inning the last batter will be batting again. Just had Rhys Hoskins triple off of me and then he disappeared. Still one out, now nobody on after one pitch. I love all the new equipment, it all looks so great, the new cleats are cool. Just a weird experience so far with this game. Can’t select uniforms in postseason mode. Also a lot of stats issues but I feel like that happens every year and will definitely Be patched.
I also noticed stadium lighting is really dark for night games, almost like it’s completely out. I read that it might be the HDR setting but it’s off for me. Went back to the show 20 and night games look fine. Hopefully this issue gets patched soon.
I'm in my first game and the bat sounds seem great, except for the perfect/perfect liner hits. They sound more glitched than done on purpose. I actually thought I broke my bat until I saw the ball going 400ft. Overall the bat sounds seem impactful. The "perfect" liner ones sound like my four year old hitting a ball with a wiffle bat. I hope that gets fixed.

Didn’t this happen last year or the year before, where the hit-sounds were awesome then removed with a patch then returned? I’m hearing a bunch of new hit-sounds, and from what I can tell they’re awesome, but they’re muted. Like they’re supposed to be on 10 but they’re on 4. This will be fixed.
Just one man’s opinion.
I don’t actually care about any of this.

100% Agree - sounds like it's a new Sound F/X this year, but they need to adjust the levels of it
in '20 you really felt and heard that 'smack' when u got a Perfect/Perfect.. not so this year.
In general, in Settings, I usually turn all the sounds in the game down to about 25% but MAX out the SFX levels at 100% Still, it's really low this year.. Wonder if they can add this to their patch list. (playing on PS4)
Not happy. Pre ordered. Cant start season cus rosters no carry over. Waiting on OSFM to upload to vault. 90% all vaults have no description so cant go forward. My team dont even have proper coaches. Lazy SDS. Im currently on pause after paying early access. Im bummed
