You know how I did additional budget dollars? I used it as a revenue surplus reward at year end. TV revenue sharing, post season appearance a few other things (house rules).....took that immersion away too I see.
I mean it is really so obvious now.....and incredibly disappointing. What a great series this was for so long and more stuff just keeps being found out with todays release.
Here is the thing. I am sure the gameplay is great.
But all the design decisions made are just awful IMO and the trend is clear.

Re: Custom Sliders Disable XP
Didn't mention stubs in my post lol. I think thats a bug as cant recall the stats you accrued in a game ever having any tie to the stubs you receive for that game and if not that sucks because i play plenty of franchise mode and will be affected by it as well.
Just telling you why I think the XP is the way it is instead of instantly berating the devs for something that makes plenty of sense to me if what I said is the reason behind it.
To be honest I didn't even make a statement and definitely didnt ask why you're complaing about it.I simply put out why i thought this was the case and asked if anyone else had the same understanding of the new XP system as I did. You guys get so defensive and live in this echo chamber its impossible to have a normal conversation.
That is now gone.
I am not a DD expert....at all. But the game has changed in that way correct?
Also what is this “you guys” statement. Broad assumptions about opinions? Echo chamber? I hate those things (echo chambers)....I like talking and discussing differing opinions. That is what makes things interesting. And also trying to learn from each other.Last edited by Armor and Sword; 04-16-2021, 03:38 PM.Now Playing on PS5:

Re: Custom Sliders Disable XP
Let me try and correct you a little in regard to XP path. We earned some awesome pack rewards that we were able to pull equipment, and some sweet cards that we could turn around and sell on the market and earn stubs to use inside RTTA and Franchise.
That is now gone.
All I was trying to convey was that without that overall XP reward path and the fact that the XP you earn is directly tied to each individual card in regards to getting their parallel card my ASSUMPTION is that preventing the farming of stats is why the changing of sliders is limiting the XP.
That assumption (because thats all it is) makes sense to me because I don't see why they'd allow you to create a team of the 9 guys you'd like parallels for and play a game with maxed sliders and then get XP towards those 9 cards. If it doesn't make sense to you I guess we just disagree which is fine.
The caveat I tried to make in the initial post that apparently didn't come across as intended, was that I don’t know if the system counts offline stats towards those parallels and if it doesn't my statement could be disregarded.
You guys can save the lectures, I wasn't defending the change am still not defending the change and don't like the change. Instead was just trying to provide an answer for why this change may have been made which no one else had been offering. Of course I could be wrong, which is why I initially asked it in the form of a question to see if anyone else had a similar understanding and included the caveat.
As someone who doesn't spend money on the mode having the option to earn rewards just through spending time I would have spent regardless and then sell things for relatively large amounts was great. Not having that sucks and I understand the frustration just was trying to provide an answer.Comment

Re: Custom Sliders Disable XP
Maybe I did a poor job of explaining why I think this change was made in the initial post because I definitely wasn't defending the decision, but just trying to offer an explanation of why I think the reworked system is what is causing the slider changes to turn off XP.

Dude it is all good. I am in no way a DD expert. Based on what you posted it seems they tied in XP heavily to a new DD feature.....so they do not want one to go and cheese the CPU inside franchise mode and use it as an exploit to get all the parallel cards. I have no idea what those are either....again I am ignorant when it comes to DD.
I just collected the cards...because I love baseball cards to begin with LOL.
But it also goes to Oscars point that a few cheeses....****in the fun we all had earning XP path rewards playing the game the way we like to. Offline, in franchise mode, with custom sliders for realism.
Again this is just another example of how a group of players are dictating changes to how we played the game in the past because they are trying to buck the system for rewards.
Same with bunting.....also check swings turfing the discipline rating.....it just keeps getting worse. Like whats next in the coming years?

Re: Custom Sliders Disable XP
I will admit that i am not sure how i feel about this new system as i split time betwen franchise and DD amd never touch RTTS. On one had as i never develope a massive amount of DD cards the change in how XP allows me to skill up the ones i do have is beneficial to me. But not being able to gain XP and rewards in my Franchise by making it play how i want does hurt my overall DD ability to advace as a more casual gamer than i once was. I never spent stubbs in franchise so i wont miss that aspect as much as some will, and from reading many of other peoples post it sounds like this affects RTTS players exponentially more than franchise guys. I personal am gonna play for a few weeks to reserve my overall opnion on this, but from a long time show player I am more frustrated with this not being explained prior to release or the reason why. If it is as others habe mentioned to stop XP and stubb farming by making easy sliders than they maube should have had a happy medium of custom sliders give rewards at for example the rookie level.Comment

What I can’t live with is the slimy used car sales tactics they used to sale this years game.
1) introducing stadium creator next generation only. Cool. I get that. PS4 isn’t powerful enough to handle it. Then turn around and hide the fact that you can’t play evening or night games in created stadiums in a FAQ instead of announcing it on one of your stupid puppet streams you used to sell the feature.
2) stripping XP and stubs from custom sliders. Cool I get it. You have to protect your money make DD, and can’t have people exploiting it. Totally get it. But to not even announce this decision prior to release when people have already purchase the game. That’s what we in my industry call a “bait & switch”
3) no longer allowed to increase budget in franchise. Fine I get it. If you guys truly fixed the budget logic under the hood, and we no longer need this feature. Fine I’m cool with that. But your budgets have been completely broken on franchise for years and this was one of the only work around a we had
Que the “this is why the devs don’t come to the forum anymore” rhetoric. I don’t care. The facts are the facts. They tried to sneak so many things under our noses this year. How this is relatively the same dev team from 8 years ago is beyond me.Comment

Re: Custom Sliders Disable XP
I kind of get the reason behind it. The sliders vault was filled with FAST XP sets.
However, there was an easy solution that didn't involve curb stomping the already down franchise players. Just reward a xp per inning played, as opposed to by the score.
I'm not sure what would worry me more: that they were so blind that they didn't think of this solution, or that they did think of it, and decided to try and be clever and remove it while using XP exploits as an excuse in order to drive up microtransaction sales.
Either way, they done goofed from my perspective. Mind you I wasn't going to buy 21 anyways. Still this accomplishes nothing but solidifying my decision.

Re: Custom Sliders Disable XP
You know, sometimes it's less painful when you're kicked in the **** with no warning, and other times, it hurts SO MUCH WORSE.
This is one of those times when it's the latter.
As A&S, Bullit and a few others have said, there were a multitude of ways that we used stubs and XP within the game from an offline standpoint. To lose the ability to collect those items by simply changing a single slider, I don't even know where to start with that, other than it's another sign for us offline gamers that the writing is on the wall in regards to where the series is headed, and our place in it.
For me, it's been a great run, playing this game every year since MLB The Show 08, spanning the PSP, PS2, PS3, PSVita, PS4 and PS4 Pro. While I won't say that I'll never play this game again, because I know me and know that won't happen, I no longer view this game as an annual purchase and if I do decide to purchase, it will be at a 50% or greater sale price.
Days like this make me really miss the golden age of sports gaming. It's sad how far the genre's fallen the last 10-15 years.Currently Playing:

If your changes fall in the realm of nerfing the CPU to exploit the system then so be it, but there are a lot of people who use sliders to make the game more realistic and the slider tweaks are made to boost the CPU and make things harder for us, so why punish those who fall on the opposite side of the spectrum?Comment

Re: Custom Sliders Disable XP
On the one hand, I never really used XP or stubs in franchise mode. On the other, even though I didn't play DD, I always kind of enjoyed collecting the cards and buying the packs with my stubs.
Really disappointing they didn't bother to mention this, just like they didn't bother to mention that they removed season mode a few years back. Pretty clear how the development team views us franchisers now. It's a shame.Last edited by LowerWolf; 04-16-2021, 04:56 PM.Comment
