Also it's very odd that you can set it for 7 p.m. but it's not night, which makes it seem like a bug even if apparently it's not, especially because most of the ish in the stadium creator is stuff from already real stadiums. So if it were a tech issue with lighting, I'm not sure why it would not apply universally.



That being said, even I missed this one if they really did say it somewhere. Do we have a source? I feel like I watched most things and never remember hearing them say anything on this.

But in the FAQ they also mention they are working on patching it with a future update.
That's good news, even though I think it should have been possible from the start.

REALLY hope they can patch this in. I love playing day games, but, every home game during the day? AHHH come on SDS not even I can say I'm okay with this.

There's no reason to assume they'd leave something like that out, that's why.

The sad thing is, there isn't a thing we could've done about this to get this answer beforehand. Even if it was the most asked question, I doubt Coach & Ramone would've covered it on their quick Q&A. We would've only found out for ourselves after playing the game for ourselves to figure it out. On the bottom when they said "Only on next-gen consoles," I think just as big of a caveat should have been "Only afternoon time of day possible." This is a low-blow by the company, and adding up with no SOTS and other things that simply weren't stated, is making me lose a little bit of faith/trust. I never, ever thought I would have said that about them, but they are different than they were ten years ago before DD and microtransactions were the biggest thing for them, and it shows.

That being said, this mode has excellent promise, and I hope that the years to come of course only show many more improvements. I just hope we start getting much, much more transparency from them. This is kind of a big ****ing problem, one big enough that I would say "This mode isn't ready."

I'd understand if, in a future patch or installment, that there are some stadiums that can't be played at night. Really, I am. If you don't create lights, they'd have to warn about that kind of thing. That's exactly what that section of my video was talking about. What really gives off light in this game? Are the lights just props. and is it artificial? Or do they actually illuminate the field based on how many there are and how big there are? I'm not saying this was ever an easy code to crack, but I couldn't have ever possibly imagined this feature would've been released without being able to play night games. No domes is understandable the first time through, but no night games IMO is unacceptable. Well over 50% of season games in the MLB are played at night, so if they're serious about using this in franchise and not DD, my seriousness about buying this game weighs heavily on this factorization.

EDIT: Even if this information was provided in a FAQ prior to release (and I don't know how long ago that FAQ was posted), I still feel like the other toys in Toy Story here...

Exactly was no mention of having to play all day games in created stadiums [emoji35] We now know why they never showed the next gen version cause there literally is not much difference [emoji35] Also the sound of the ball hitting the bat is way off this year not very loud at all sounds like a gun shooting a BB to me [emoji35]

Why is anybody surprised by this? It’s another feature they half-assed just to say they have it. Remember last year when you could relocate teams but not build them new stadiums? Same disease, different symptoms.

Fair point. Half-assed was the wrong term. Incomplete is probably better. But it’s still a big oversight.

At least this looks like it has a chance to get fixed since this affects the DD crowd also, so if they complain SDS will listen.

Hopefully this does get patched. I remember them saying in the stream that we won't be able to make domed stadiums this year, which disappointed me, but this is the first I'm hearing about no night games (pending update).

Interestingly, OOTP didn't have domed stadiums included last year during its first iteration of the Ballpark Construction Kit.

If they aren't able to patch this, I'll second the notion that this feature is incomplete. Being able to play day and night games is about as basic a functionality you would expect from a stadium creator.

I do know their real stadiums are like one massive asset, so I do wonder if this is a legacy problem of that to some extent. Perhaps they struggle with how to do actual dynamic lighting that doesn't freak out once the stadium lights are on etc. so they build it in to all the pre-rendered stadiums they create.

There could be lots of old, weird ish that is a relic of another time. They seemed so relieved but struggled very hard it seems to be able to break these created stadiums into singular assets where you can put stuff all over, but there's probably some wonky stuff here and there -- which also would make the dome thing make more sense since that would also always deal with fake lights rather than "natural light."

I would guess any sort of transition from day to night is basically a mess, but I do wonder if they figure out something basic for the year in a patch to just have it already be "fully" night at a 7 p.m. start just like it seems right now 1 p.m. just remains 1 p.m. for the entirety of a game as the short-term workaround.
