The system wouldn't be so bad if the loadouts, equipment, and progression weren't all bugged right now.

I can't progress my loadouts without having to quit to the clubhouse after every game. Oh and when you change the loadout it messes up most of your gear causing you to have to edit your player every time to even look at a loadout.

Yup, every time I look at my loadout, it resets my damn sleeves to default (I wear 2 compression sleeves and it resets it to 1).

Man, I just cant get over how slow progression is!

I dont mind a bit of a grind, but I am almost done with my first season in AA and am just a 62 ovr...I started off like a 59 ovr.

My biggest fear is being called up to the majors in season 2 and being a bench player with like a 63-64 ovr.

I have a 79 ovr Nico Hoerner ahead of me and no way I would start over him!

If my memory serves me correctly, by the end of the 1st season in last years game I was around a 70-73 ovr, so they definitely nerfed the hell out of progression!

Does anyone know if there is an ‘issue’ applying equipment to our Ballplayer in RttS?

Whenever I go in to try and change my bat I have the ‘option’ to select my bag when I am highlighting that option but pressing ‘x’ doesn’t do anything? I can’t actually get in to the list to choose the bat I want?

MLB21 RTTS Mode Gutted by SDS

I haven’t had a chance to play the game yet but what an absolute turnoff. RTTS was so good the last 4-5 years, they had a good thing going, why change now? I guess I’m frustrated with the sounds of that as well so I’ll leave my input.

SDS, stop copying 2k and Madden for career modes. You HAD a good thing going. But now it sounds like you completely blew it up. If you would’ve kept it relatively the same and made minor changes, it would still be great. The time you took to change the complete aspect of RTTS, you could’ve put more time into franchise and making it better. These money-chasing microtransactions driven games are disgusting. I’m sorry but year after year, since ‘06, been buying this game from the earliest time possible to get it and play franchise and RTTS and what do we get from it? To get absolutely s*** on by SDS - each year they ask the community what they should improve on, we give MANY suggestions to improve the game modes we love and they for the most part, “try” to improve it, but they end up making it worse or minimal changes at all.

I’m sorry for the rant, I’m just frustrated and extremely disappointed.... again...

Oh and to add to the frustration, the GRIND IS REAL....

Halfway through my first minor league season my OVR has went up ONE POINT!

And for whatever reason, I only play 2 out of every 3 games....I dont even qualify for league leaders.

And I am putting up huge stats, so that isnt the issue....batting .356.

Maybe it is my 50 ovr durability that is near impossible to raise?

I am supposed to be the next big thing in baseball, shouldnt I be playing every day?

I finished my first double a season, ended with a .320 batting average as a 1B and a 60 overall. My durability i don't think is at 40 yet either

I played 10 games today and got 13 hits in AA. ONLY 1 of those hits registered towards the RTTS missions for me. It’s obviously broken. Hoping a patch fixes it because getting better gear and higher archetypes will make the mode more normal like previous seasons.

Are people still acting like SDS is better than every other company? The game has been stale for years and they've screwed my favorite mode. On top of that, it's officially the worst looking sports title.

I threw 7 innings, 1 hit, 15k 0bb... My k/9 climbed by less than halfway to a pint increase from 30 to 31, and other stats barely moved..

Let's do the math, to get to the show with a K/9 rating of 65 I'll have to have 70 starts in the minors with 15k's..

I recognized the grind immediately and this mode is on the shelf for me.

Just curious, what attributes does your Archetype upgrade? I am hoping to get to level 100 in my archetype to see just how much more of a boost it gives. They have flat out said that Archetype items, perks and equipment will have a bigger impact that actual playing.

I am not a fan but that is how they described it.

Mentioned in another thread but I went through a season of agony that is 21 RTTS on Friday and was ready to give up but then tried player lock in franchise and am having a blast. Wish I had went that way sooner.

No equipment BS, can put whatever I want on my player without worrying about ratings.

I can set my rating wherever I want, even more control than RTTS training points days. Don’t need stubs whatsoever.

Don’t have to worry about archetypes or perks or the game nerfing attributes if I increase others.

I can set where I bat in the lineup, what position I play, how much of a two way player I am and pitch on short rest in the playoffs.

I’m sure this means franchise is next to nerf and tie to DD so I’ll enjoy it while it lasts.

RTTS is a damn mess and its a shame....

That seems to be a fairly common bug. And yes, I agree that you have to wonder how some bugs got past testing. More egregious than the progression bug is the fact that choosing a loadout in the pre-game screen just does not work at all.

That being said, somebody on reddit this morning posted picture of a 99 overall Ballplayer. They had a diamond Archetype which apparently allows you to equip 4 perks, all of which were also diamonds. I assume that they also had all diamond equipment. It is obvious that they did not run into the progression bug and played A LOT of games.

I am never one to complain about MLB The Show, as it has always had many good qualities about it and still does. But this new “ballplayer”/rtts is HORRENDOUS. I cannot believe they actually sat down as a group and collectively thought this was a good idea. Look I know people like DD and everything is geared toward them and they don’t give a damn about us non DD players. But this is ridiculously bad. On top of that, they even got rid of hundreds of batting stances and pitching motions. What is this garbage? Do better SDS.

This is the design direction of the game and it will most likely continue.

The sad thing for me is I know the game plays great on the diamond. SDS is second to none when it comes to the gameplay of baseball.

That is why it is so depressing the offline franchise/RTTS gamer is getting seriously axed.

Pray we get a turnaround next year.
