Re: MLB21 RTTS Mode Gutted by SDS
Reading through the posts...it looks like you CAN use custom sliders in RTTS and your player will progress normally...or nearly normally.
Is that correct?
I ask because I need sliders to get the pitch speed down to where my old reflexes can respond in time.

Re: MLB21 RTTS Mode Gutted by SDS
Can't speak for the current game since I am skipping 21 this year. But in MLBTS20 (and previous years) you absolutely can customize the game difficulty to meet a level of game play you desire. I am no spring chicken myself and thus have my fastball pitch speed set to a 7 versus 10 as the hardcore peeps say is the only way to play the game.Last edited by My993C2; 05-06-2021, 12:14 PM.Comment

If you change the sliders, you get 50% XP. They just recently changed it because it was 0% if you changed the sliders.Comment

Re: MLB21 RTTS Mode Gutted by SDS
My understanding is that XP is what earns you stubs...is that right? Do custom sliders make it 50% rating progress as well? What I mean is...improving your player from a 59 rating to a 90 rating over a few seasons...that sort of thing. Sorry if I'm not understanding...in the previous years games I just worked to improve my RTTS player's rating by playing games...I've never paid much attention to XP. Are they the same thing?Comment

Case in point, I completed the 1st inning path and earned 2 diamond and 4 gold perks along the way - things that I probably shouldn't be getting an opportunity to acquire until completing 1 or 2 full archetype paths! Using those perks will likely allow you to progress your player through the minors quicker, if you prefer to take that approach. If you don't, you'll only have access to the perks you unlock in the RTTS mode itself - so if I'm in a bronze archetype I'll only be earning bronze perks in that program. Once I reach a silver archetype I'll start getting silver perks in its program, and so on. That seems like the "intended" way to go through an RTTS career, rather than brute-forcing your way through the minors with Gold/Diamond perks equipped on a Bronze archetype.
And, although I can't say for 100% certain, I do not believe changing the sliders affects the "base gains" from in-game RTTS performance. I'm playing with pitch speed turned up and I don't feel like I'm getting shorted on those in-game performance +'s or -'s.Last edited by bcruise; 05-06-2021, 10:46 PM.Comment

Re: MLB21 RTTS Mode Gutted by SDS
With the patch decided to dive back into RTTS.
Haven’t done it in years but tried a closer, played about 5 seasons and made it to Diamond and a 95 rating. All stats appeared to track, was actually pretty fun except I was on the Rangers and the team had 5 dreadful seasons then traded me to the Brewers mid season where we won a WS. You can play seasons incredibly quick and level up fast as a closer.
After that I restarted a two way player as a starter/Right Fielder. The 95 closer rating I had translated to 99 as a starter. It still took me till late August for a call up, I was able to level up to silver as a batter. I will say it takes way longer to level up your hitter. than your pitcher. It is annoying they sit you so much as a position player, roughly half the games between starts. I did have problems with disconnects and stats tracking after I made the majors, I’d say half the games counted. The playoffs magnified this, after starting game 1 of the NLCS they sat me game 2, then didn’t pitch me the rest of the series that went 6 games even though I was a 99 rating. I think this is because when you have the hitting load out selected they redo the starting rotation based on that rating and I’m only a 71 RF. It’s also frustrating that as a pitcher with the pitching load out selected on starting days you’re gimped as a hitter, that makes no sense.
I'm interested in doing a closer as well because it's fun and easy to get through seasons pretty quickly. I was curious, what archetype did you start with (cheese, filthy, painter)?
And were you able to tell your coach early on that you only wanted to be a closer and not a 2 way player? I personally like the way RTTS is this year other than the 2 way player thing. I would rather just focus on one position. Thanks!Currently Playing

Re: MLB21 RTTS Mode Gutted by SDS
Got to be honest, this mode is absolutely terrible in terms of explaining what on earth you are doing. It's all so un-intuitive. Your player, your ratings, your equipments, your missions, are all hidden up in that top corner. I have literally no idea how to see what my ratings actually are (with equipment, perks and loadout bonuses), I have no idea what the caps are on my stats, or how to raise them (can you raise them?) I get thrown into minigames with terrible explanations so I always pretty much fail the first time just learning what your even supposed to do.
It's all just awful tbh. All the crappy video cut ins in the world won't help a mode with such terrible UIComment

Re: MLB21 RTTS Mode Gutted by SDS
That bad eh? I haven't even tried it yet (Just got the XBOX Game Pass) and RTTS is one of my favorite modes of MLBTS. From seeing and hearing all around how bad it is I am just going to skip by it and just concentrate on Franchise. I had a nice first game last night in my Oakland A's Franchise with the Ridin's rosters..
It's not a bad game, that's the worst part. RTTS wasn't super deep to begin with, and now that you can't just make your guy the way you want + using loadouts like I'm jumping into a CoD game, it just makes you scratch your head and why they though this was an appropriate direction to go in for a mode that's about living your personal dreams of being a pro athlete out through a video game. One night I can throw 90 but can't hit because of my "loadout" which doesn't have the hitting cleats, but the next night I'm Mike Trout because I'm wearing the right cleats and picked a different class. Probably the single worst idea I've ever seen in an offline, single character sports career mode ever.Join the EVHL!

Re: MLB21 RTTS Mode Gutted by SDS
Are you supposed to stick to bronze perks and equip when youre still a bronze arch?
Because I got a bunch of diamond equip and some diamond perks while im still a bronze arch, and I got called up to AAA after half a season and feel COMPLETELY overmatched now.PSN / Xbox GT - BLUEnYELLOW28Comment
