Again, ambient light will suck all light outside of the stadium.

Yes, you should be able to see the light still switched on inside of offices, but to see a detailed silhouette of the entire edifice is less likely while you're inside the park.

The seats closest to the field should be completely illuminated, though.

The problem the overly dark areas don't just pertain to the distant buildings, you can see it is overly dim with fans in the seats and even to some extent on field.

Look how dark even the pitcher and batter look.

I agree and I'm aware, that's what I said in my first post here. I'm just saying that it could be natural outside the ballpark, but inside it should be lit and visible to a large extent.

I can't remember which version of the game (maybe 17 or 18), but I remember one year that Citi Field just got way dark in the stands at night when some other parks didn't, so I don't really know what caused that but it was maybe a sign of things to come?

I guess they just haven't cracked lighting in general, since they had brown skies at dusk forever and now they're always purple.

Im on old xbox one and old xbox one S and agree the lighting has changed this year.

Last year's game it was perfect - i was in awe sometimes of the visuals w/ the lighting at night games.

This year it' is sort of too dark. And whoever posted that it's like lights out in some of the stadiums upper decks and outfield seats is dead on. Also, say in Cleveland, it looks like the city had a power outage when you look at the city buildings and structures in the outfield at night.

Hope they can fix it but I don't think they can replicate the lighting masterpiece that was MLB 20. Too bad they didnt follow the 'If it aint broke dont fix it.' motto.

How much of the city buildings should we really be seeing from the ballpark, though? As other replies pointed out, you’re not going to see too much with the bright stadium lighting shining down on you.

For reference, here’s a quick comparison of MLB 21, 20, and real life from last season. As far as city visibility, I think 21 is more realistic.

(I’m sure someone could find a real photo with a more comparable angle, I just went to MLB.com’s video search and looked for HRs that might have a wide shot from behind home that had some of the city backdrop.)

It's a video game though. I like to see things the background nicely lit up and vibrant.

I just did the Giambi Moments and one of the moments is in old Yankee stadium.

Wow - here you can really tell the difference in the lighting from last year. Last year, the outfield frieze was so vibrant and lit up. In 21, it's dark and dull. This stadium you can clearly see the difference in night games.

The lights shining towards you are always gonna make objects under that light appear darker (such as the outfield fans and water falls in this example, being directly below the big flood lights).
I don't think it is an accurate representation.

The stands would be lit up, all the fans would be lit up under the lights, etc. A player on the field won't see basically anything outside of the stadium due to the lighting inside of the stadium, but the stands, fans, concourse, etc. inside of the stadium would all be lit up very well.

Just think about any night time MLB game you've been to in your life. How lit up did the stands across the park from you look?

Curious if scoreboard neon lights and office building lights have been fixed. They looked all shutoff last year.

Tried adjusting my PS5 HDR settings and turning several brightness options on my LG way down, nothing helped. Even made some recommended settings adjustments with a service remote but those don’t seem to work anymore thanks to an LG firmware update. Has anyone gotten The Show to place nice with their LG OLED? It’s a gorgeous game on the set when the lighting works but having the screen dim massively every time I step up to the plate is horrible.

On a related note, does The Show have Dolby Vision on Xbox? Kind of wondering if better tone mapping would fix the issue. I’m assuming the issue is the devs have set the max brightness for lighting unnecessarily high and that’s what’s triggering the ABL. Pro Yakyuu for example is essentially as bright as The Show but the ABL impact is marginal.
This is exactly why I am going on xbox this year after every version I have ever own being on playstation. I own an OLED CX and the ABL for this game and madden is aggressive.

The ABL when batting/playing a night game or in Tampa with those bright lights is so aggressive it's horrible.

Xbox Series X has dolby vision while PS5 does not and that's the difference maker for me this year.

I am not sure if it does or doesn't, I just know you can run the game in dolby vision like I've done with Madden and it gets rid of the aggressive ABL on an OLED.

Yes The Show has Dolby Vision. I play with it on my Series X and LG C1 everyday. It definitely looks awesome

Before I purchase it for Xbox later today, have you played on PS4/PS5 and know what we mean by the aggressive ABL?

From what I've seen on my CX, dolby vision really helps with the ABL issue.

Yes, I have it on my PS5 as well, and I used to get that ABL on it but don't anymore for some reason. I'm not sure if an update fixed it or whatever but it used to dim all the time, but not anymore

Other than ABL , there should be a setting called ai brightness you can turn off. I also read that you can turn off tpc in the secret service menu. Just trying to help. Been reading some forums for some fixes.

So I went ahead and purchased the Xbox Series X version for the first time ever over playstation.

I've always been a playstation guy going back to when the Show first came out. Only switched because of the ABL issue on every/any OLED TV.

Pleased to share and say, the dimming/ABL issue is GONE due to Dolby Vision! So damn happy and can enjoy the game as intended!

Hopefully one day Dolby Vision comes to playstation.
