My question is does the game itself support Dolby Vison? Like is it mastered in DV?

I'm not sure. I will have to try it, but I'm not getting any serious issues with my C1. I use HDR with HGIG on all HDR games. I've tried DV on games like Madden, and I feel it makes the game look even darker and a little warmer. So not a big fan of it, so I leave it off.

If the game is mastered in DV, then I will definitely try it.

The Show triggers the hell out of ABL on my LG C1. Experienced it with both The Show 20 (PS4) and The Show 21 (PS5); playing both on PS5. Tried adjusting my PS5 HDR settings and turning several brightness options on my LG way down, nothing helped. Even made some recommended settings adjustments with a service remote but those don’t seem to work anymore thanks to an LG firmware update. Has anyone gotten The Show to place nice with their LG OLED? It’s a gorgeous game on the set when the lighting works but having the screen dim massively every time I step up to the plate is horrible.

On a related note, does The Show have Dolby Vision on Xbox? Kind of wondering if better tone mapping would fix the issue. I’m assuming the issue is the devs have set the max brightness for lighting unnecessarily high and that’s what’s triggering the ABL. Pro Yakyuu for example is essentially as bright as The Show but the ABL impact is marginal.

Put the HDR on your C1 to HGIG and you won’t this issue anymore. When you have tone mapping on it’s going to do that.

Wow, that’s great to hear! I’m seriously tempted to jump on an Xbox Series X…

If you have the opportunity get it in the series x. I have both series x and ps5, but on the series x the console runs the game in 120fps mode even though it’s running in 60fps. In turn the input lag will be 5ms on the series x compared to 10ms on the ps5. The input lag is a lot lower. The c1 runs games in its lowest input lag when you set the Xbox to run at 120fps

So I went ahead and purchased the Xbox Series X version for the first time ever over playstation.

I've always been a playstation guy going back to when the Show first came out. Only switched because of the ABL issue on every/any OLED TV.

Pleased to share and say, the dimming/ABL issue is GONE due to Dolby Vision! So damn happy and can enjoy the game as intended!

Hopefully one day Dolby Vision comes to playstation.

Do you have HDR tone mapping on or do you use HGIG with Dolby Vision?

Pre-Dolby Vision, yes HDR tone mapping was on. HGIG for me when playing Madden etc is too dark, but if that helps remedy the dimming/ABL on an OLED, then glad to know there's a way around it, especially without dolby vision when on PS5.

Yea putting your HDR on HGIG will eliminate the ABL. I find in a dark room it’s fine but in the day HGIG does look a bit dim.

Agreed. And HDR/DV is made to be viewed in either a completely dark room or a mostly dark room.

I’ve got an LG C1 and am not having any issues with this game. Runs and looks great for me.

For sure darker than in the past, but, I love it. My old eyes would get burned out quick from all the brightness....I played all day today....no issues.

The issue also seems to be somewhat ballpark specific. Played a few games at Petco for example and lighting was pretty consistent throughout. I also played one at Exhibition Stadium (a brilliant created stadium from the vault) and the image positively popped. Meanwhile, Griffith Stadium is one of the worst offenders. There’s a ton of sky visible from behind home plate and playing in bright sunshine always looks more like you’re playing with the sun obscured. Very obvious that the game’s lighting system is at fault.

You have to take into account Griffith Stadium is a classic stadium. The lights then wouldn't rival the lights in today's ballparks.

Curious as to if anyone else has experienced “dark bases” at night? I’ve had this issue in the past and noticed it again in a game I was playing last night.

Sometimes it’s every base, but in my most recent game it was 2nd base that appeared as a shade of grey and was essentially “shaded” would be the best way I can put it … while all other bases where a bright white with the stadium lights making them glow a little bit.

Anyone else seen this before?

So, I just want to get someone else's opinion just to make sure I'm not making any unnecessary changes. In certain ballparks during day games, should areas behind home plate and center field be dark? Or should it be visible at all times?

Thing is, I can make it brighter so that it would be more visible using the Gamma setting on my tv. I've also noticed that while Dolby Vision is great with the richness of the colors, it makes the picture darker; whereas using HDR10 is perfect with regards to brightness but I have to raise my color setting.

I just want to make sure that's how the parks are supposed to be because of shadows etc and it's not my tv.

Yes, I've seen all 3 bases being a dark grey color, but only one at a time.

Yes. I've noticed individual bases dark, as well as all three at the same time. It's definitely an eye sore.
