Why doesn't every sports game title have the SOTS?
NBA 2K, NHL both used to have the custom music feature which was huge back in the day. Now they need to bring that back to compete with The Show which blows every game out of the water in this regard. I am sure with Nex-gen technology they have the ability to include even in Madden.Tags: None -

Well they are getting rid of it seems sounds of the show. Only ps4 has it for 21. By next year it might not even have it. -

I would guess if you took a poll of every gamer who has played each sports game, that feature would be way down the list of must haves. Not to mention they can’t make money off of it, which is why all these games have steered users to the card collecting team modes.

Re: Why doesn't every sports game title have the SOTS?
if the Studio made a football or basketball or hockeyball game, they would have a sounds setup package.
as it stands, the Studio doesn't, so they don't.
other developers develop those games, with their own unique vision.
until this year, if there were 1 idea I wish EA & 2k would borrow from SDS and run with,
I'd vote for carry-over saves over SotSOSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Re: Why doesn't every sports game title have the SOTS?
As an XBox user, I had no idea there was a sports game that still offered custom sounds.
NBA 2K used to offer custom sounds (during the XBox 360 and PS3 era) and it was amazing. Custom tip-off music, individual player sounds for made baskets (the Ben Wallace gong, for example), walk-up music, crowd chants, etc.
Seemed so unbelievably regressive to see that feature removed for next gen. I don't want to go on a rant but I feel like we should always be getting more freedom and customization options as technology moves forward, not less.Comment

Re: Why doesn't every sports game title have the SOTS?
While not an absolute deal breaker, and while I won't play a game I don't like just because it has custom music, I'd have to say it's a massive influence in whether I play and continue to play a sports game. So all things being equal, two games that are more or less similar regardless of age and one has custom music, it's the custom music one I'll play. And I'll bet if you did a poll, for a certain demographic it most definitely would be a big deciding factor.Comment

I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: Why doesn't every sports game title have the SOTS?
It's a licensing nightmare potentially and a legal one as well, especially with how consoles are now setup with always-online and streaming components.
2K is freaked out about even having the tracks in their game that THEY license on streams, which is why the audio remains borked if you stream 2K straight from console.
MS does not want any music, and this is why PES is better on Sony's console for example for similar reasons due to the abilities of getting custom rosters into the game more easily there.
In short, it's a legal thing. Certain companies maybe don't mind pushing it a bit further than others, but the consoles themselves will drive what they can even be allowed to do.
(In other words, get all sports game to PC, plz)
I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). I write it, and it hits your inbox every Friday morning (for freeeeeee). We also have an official OS Discord you can now join.Comment
