XBOX One, Playing a Franchise Game?

Hello, first year player and trying to play franchise on xbox one. I can play an exhibition game just fine, but can't figure out how to play a franchise game.

I go into the game day where it shows me the two teams, and I can move the P2 indicator to my opponent and select, but I can't select my own team. On my team it always says P1 with team captain next to it. Does not allow me to advance to play an actual game.

I am so confused at this point how to get it work. Exhibition games I don't have this issue.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like your game hasn't fully downloaded. You can start playing the game before it's 100 playable.

If it's showing P1 and P2 it sounds like it's picking up two controllers and the one you're using is being considered player two (P2).

If for sure was thinking P1 was the active controller, which none of my controllers were. It was strange because during exhibition mode I didn't have that issue at all. Some reason the game/console was thinking I had another controller assigned to P1 which I didn't and it only happened in franchise mode.

Since I couldn't figure it out, I did a reset of my xbox back to factory and loaded everything again. After that, started working fine. Something must have gone crazy in the controller configuration for some reason that was only seen within MLB show and only during franchise. No idea, but can play now.
