"Competitive" vs. "Simulation" and The Future

Now that we have two seperate modes (Competitive and Simulation), doesn't this allow the devs to make simulation as great as it possibly can be? Why do we still see things like rocket bunts and why are check swings being tailored across the board away from simulation to competitive when we have two different modes for that? If they are going to go to all the trouble of having distinct modes, why not give simulation the love it truly deserves? Maybe next year?

I've played both competitive and simulation this year, multiple games, and see absolutely no difference whatsoever on higher difficulties.

The two competitive and simulation modes just turns on and off different settings in the game. Settings you can go in and tweak yourself. Least that’s what my tests have shown. I don’t know if it’s truly unique, just preset customs is all it seems to be.

I see. I was hoping it was more than that.

They have made some patch tweaks over the past couple years that only affected online hitting. So they definitely have the ability, at least in some areas of the game.

I mean it kinda does to an extent. But you can look in settings if you switch between the modes it just turns settings in and off. Not really dice role just basically turns off features that make the game easier is all it does.

Simulation is like bowling without the bumper rails nothing more. You play causal you get rails, competition you have to bowl with a ball 4 lbs heavier than normal. Same rules apply just now you gotta be more precise.

No, I'm pretty sure in the stream they said that competitive was influenced more by user input than anything else and on simulation the ratings mattered the most, aka more dice roll.

                Maybe I'm misremembering?

There maybe something under the hood I am not seeing, but you can go into settings and hit r1 and tab back and forth between the modes. It shows you what the modes turn on and off in the settings. Far as I can tell it just flips some switches is all it seems to be doing.

Which is technically correct to what you said. Simulation and competitive modes are more twitch based and causal is less so. But those are settings you can just turn on and off in the game without having them do it for you.

Yes, the settings do change, but I was talking about the under the hood stuff. I don't feel like taking the time to look back at the videos, but I'm pretty sure that's what the devs stated.

So do you guys think we'll see more under the hood differences between these modes as time goes on? And will we ever see obvious differences like more realistic bunting in Simulation that isn't balanced toward Competitive online?
