Is there a way to have your pitchers start from the stretch from inning 1?

Some of the Mets pitchers just straight up take too long to pitch. I'm trying to speed up my games but still play the full game in franchise mode, and IF there was a way to have my players start from the stretch (regardless if there are runners on base), is there a way to do this??

I assume the other option is to just change their delivery in editing mode, but I'd rather still have something based off their actual delivery.

Yeah, you would have to edit their delivery motion.

I have a friend I play with occasionally that wants the same thing. He goes to the bullpen pretty much right away. Either trade for a pitcher with a quick delivery or edit.

can you edit just off their original delivery motion to "stretch" or I just have to make it a generic one?

Can't you hold L2 or Left Trigger to do the side step thing? Not a perfect solution, but it's something to try/consider.

I can only assume your referring to Lugo haha

What does it mean to 'start from the stretch'?

I was actually trying to do the opposite; pitch from windup when I have a runner on third. Is that possible ?

Lugo is horrible to use in game. His windup is soooooooo slooooooooow.

Generally speaking, pitchers have two distinct deliveries. The first is the 'windup' which can be thought of as the pitcher's normal delivery. This is delivery they use when no one is on base. When there is someone on base, the pitcher will pitch "out of the stretch." The stretch is basically a quicker version of their delivery. The main reason for this is that if they were to use their normal, longer delivery, it would be incredibly easy for base runner's to steal.

There some other, pretty technical, rules when it comes to how a pitcher is allowed to move when runners are on base, but they don't come up all that often. Look up balk rules if you want to know more. Also, I think that pitcher is required to pitch out of the stretch with runners on unless they inform the umpire prior to doing it. Again, pretty uncommon that this would happen but there are times it would make sense.

The last thing to note is that a lot of relief pitchers pitch exclusively out of the stretch, regardless of whether there are runners on (some SP's do too, but it's mostly an RP thing). The advantage there is they only have to focus on perfecting one delivery, versus two,
